is there a flu called cat flu

is there a flu called cat flu and if there is how do you stop it from killing your ferrets my cousins 3 ferrets had died he sed it was becuse cat flu and he is thinking about not getting anymore ferrets, can any one tall me how to stop this flu

yes theres cat flu but the clue is in the name

It will probably be feline calicivirus, both cats and ferrets can catch it.

 

Interestingly ....

A form of FCV has been found to cause a particularly severe systemic disease in cats, similar to rabbit hemorrhagic disease (which is also caused by a calicivirus).

we have a few cats about here,always f*****g about in garden.hopfully my ferrets dont end up with this problem,the cats so far arnt to bad.the one thats fed and comes in the house sometimes brings alot of birds etc to the door that i give to the ferrets

put a dog in the garden to stop the cats getting in mate , that will stop them . i have done that no more cats in my garden
