Simonrees 45
I've just realised that they haven't specified a type for the .17 either, no mention anywhere of HMR. So I guess I could buy a .17 Fireball. Will see what they say tomorrow! Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
I'd clarify just to be on the safe side... Only thing i'd say is if you have a .22 WMR then you won't find a great deal of use for a .17HMR plus any "magnum" rimfire round is going to be noisy compared to a moderated .22LR with a mod. kenny14 656
Clarify it straight away to avoid potential problems. Everyone makes mistakes, but I feel that a lot of these sort are due to the fact that most if not all of the people doing the paperwork and printing have no firearms experience, and wouldn't know the difference between any of the calibres. Simonrees 45
Just got off the phone to them and they said if it states .22 then it just means a .22. I said well a WMR is a .22 and only refers to the chambering of the case and not the caliber of the bullet. She just repeated that I can only have a .22. I didn't see the point in trying to educate her and left it at that. Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
Of course you should really get her to put it in writing. An email is fine. That way you have some kind of defence when they try and prosecute you (though if it doesn't state LR on the ticket then I can't see the CPS going for it) Quote Link to post
HUnter_zero 58
So my question is, can I have any rifle that fires a .22 round? No, SWP will NOT let you have a .22WMR. Trust me. John Quote Link to post
Simonrees 45
I ended up buying a nice little Ruger 10/22 with synthetic Stock, Parker hale Moderator, and 3-9 x 50 Scope.plus a Bipod, slip and 200 rounds of CCI Subsonic. Nothing special and I'm led to believe not great out to 100yds but it was only £250.00 all in so came in on budget. Quote Link to post

Your incredibly lucky to get a .223 on your first FAC ticket down here mate usually 17 hmr and .22lr unless you live on a farm Initially they asked if i could provide details of a mentor with an open ticket on .223, I told them I could but they rang back and said if I could provide details of my military service it would save them having to put the supervision condition on my ticket. The FEO came out and copied some details from my little red book (service record) then listed all the guns I'd used whilst in the army, they ranged from 120mm (I was in a tank regiment) down to .22. As a result I got granted .223 without a supervision condition. Quote Link to post
roughcoat 8
Yes I have heard of this before I just forgot old age, I tried to pull my cadet training using 303's at Sennybridge but no luck Quote Link to post
