I think a lot of lads have kept the same sort throughout but these days some chop and change just because Billy Bullshitter down the road said this x will do that etc.   A lot these days are not pat

far to many people want to make a name for themselves instead of just enjoying it for what it is, a way of life, the enjoyment comes from watching the dog not the owner

I think you get more out of it than you keep telling us Whin.   Yep, EDRD is a cracking mag and before this site I was an avid buyer but on a site such as this you can read just as much good stuff,

Im not a fan of all the new breed's..i much prefer the old school type's of collie X's and lurcher X's with a dash of saluki in there somewhere down the line..over the year's i have been out with many of the said X's and they have all perfomed well..my main quarry year's back was rabbit and hare anything else was a bonus..

Whin, the lurcher world has always had changes, in my life of hunting and before. Hunting with these versitle dogs is full of variables, and different dogs can be used for various jobs as well as all round work, I really don't think it matters BUT I do think you may be talking about unedible quarry here and the fact that some have ran this quarry before anything else... What does it matter, each to thier own, thats how it should be. Who says someone should or shouldn't do what he does? The fact that this type of dog can be put to so much use should be the bottom line here!

The biggest change that will have an effect on the lurcher over the past 40 or so years is the internet, now you tell me, is that for the better...?

;)

A lot these days are not patient or dedicated enough to stick with things, hence why theres so much crap around.

What do you think of the new breed hunter ???

Dont think a lot of lurcher folk think past lamping and point a shot type hounds.. feild craft and traditional methods like nets and trapping are on the decline.

Mind I think a few old timers just talk guff because they are old and that gives them the right to speak down to younger folk and that age old line " I was catching rabbits when you where in nappies''.

well course they where I dont have access to a time machine lol.

Any fool can swish a lamp about... Most folk in the game are chavs and messers..

I will away and ratch my tin hat out now
