Guest Frank
Going trying to live trap some mink this week. What is the best bait to use? I was thinking of fish, oily fish, or, a bit of rabbit? Thanks, Frank. Quote Link to post
mole catcher 1
All oily fish baits work but this time of year i find a small whole rabbit wired onto the bait hook with its gut split open but with the contents left in works very well Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,694
phesant poults, chickens, ducks you name it, if you are trying to preserve them GUARANTEED that will be the thing mink like best. Quote Link to post
OldTrapCollector 377
In my opinion the best bait, bar none, for mink (and cats!) are kippers. They smell fishy and the scent carries well and do not attract blowflies like anything else seems to do and work really well. I wouldn't even experiment with anything else as the results speak for themselves. OTC Quote Link to post
Guest Frank
Thanks. I have some small bunnys with guts, will give that a try. Plenty about where i am and their cheeky as feck. They are distroying the local ducks ect, the dirty feckers. I just dont like seeing them going one by one and half are not eaten. Frank. Guest Ditch_Shitter
Frank; Mate of mine, who catches his share of mink, makes his own traps. He incorperates a wooden floor and just sets a mirror in the back! You'd know this guy as our very own " Billy Bunter " Quote Link to post
Guest Frank
Thanks Ditch never heard of that one before. Sounds interesting. Ill try both the kippers and mirror, he or she will think its a free meal and mate. Frank. Quote Link to post

NightRunner 0
The bigger the bait the better. No guts they want fresh bait that is not tainted. You can salt you bait a little in freezing conditions. Quote Link to post
Guest Frank
Thank you NightRunner. With all this info, if i dont get my mink, their is something rong with me. Cheers all Frank. Quote Link to post

The first one went in out of curiosity and the others just followed on. OTC Quote Link to post
