TOMO 26,122
Great dig but I do question why do it was the fert stuck behind the coney and the coney being ginger sure it was not a pet shop rabbit bought for the snap as the coney looks wonderfully clean for a coney coming out a 8 foot dig. Cheers Cookie the soil conditions in the ground dictate the codition a rabbit will be in after its cought ,, not the fact its been dug.... i have bolted rabbits that have been filthy,,, because of the soil yousualy being very wet,,,, hell ive even bolted rabbits with water running out of some lower down holes,, however ferrets can be very reluctant to enter such places, and who can blame them. in very dry sandy conditions like this dig was, why shouldnt it come out clean.. heres two gingers from one warren a few year back . this was the warren under a licolnshire stone wall Quote Link to post

blackstaff 488
That's some dig mate, fair play I start getting twitchy if I see 6ft on my locator because of the ground we ferret on. Chalk, flint stone the lot, not nice. For any newbies reading this thread ' THIS IS THE REASON YOU NEED COLLARS AND LOCATORS ' Atb for the rest of the season Quote Link to post
T42 44
fair play fella's those are some decent digs. Vin, how did you get the earth out of that dig with it being so narrow? Quote Link to post
Guest vin
I'm sure the terrier lads would look at this and say " easy " when they have to get down to a dog in rock sets and harder places than this.. like i said we never had to get a bar out of the truck and it was almost sand at the bottom..very dry and the only worry was caving in the tube and suffocating ferret.. it was deep but easy with 2 of us. I think the rest of the lads should post a few more dig picks to show some of the newer people how to go about using the finder and actually getting down to the location correctly and safely for all parties involved. we all have to learn somewhere. I know theres lots of people still using old mk1 boxes...I know a few who bought mk3s and then went back to mk1 becasue they could'nt get on with the newer ones. we all have lots to learn from each other. I do...You should have seen me trying to set up my new quick set long nets yesterday..ffsake more like quick to get in a right mess..It was like a laurel and hardy sketch with me falling over with the basket and 3 nets all tangled up.. Ive sussed it now...but it took a while... and we managed to catch a couple we would normally have missed. Quote Link to post
