kiwi 4
you will be hard pushed to get any dd blood into oz, although i don't buy into the split breed debate. i am hoping to have some pups on the ground by imported czech reg dd in a year, bitch is by a german imported and tested dd sire, is some aussie stuff there but will be slowly bred out as i import more european blood, is surpose to be a norwegian dog coming into the country soon, new zealand. John Nolan 0
Check the web for www.VDD-GNA.org for US and Canadian DD's tested and registered with the parent club in Germany. I can't speak to vet or quarantine requirements for shipping/delivery but when you decide on a breeder/litter, I'm sure they'll help work it out. Quote Link to post

John Nolan 0
VDD-GNA breeders are not bound by any prohibition as to where and who they can sell to. They agree to abide by the rules of the parent club in Germany which, to my knowledge, does not prohibit sales to specific individuals or countries. Years ago, there was no JGHV testing in North America, still DD's were imported. Far sighted individuals worked long and hard to bring a breed club (with all the parent club standards) here. Similarly, wachtelhunds are being imported from Germany, Poland and elsewhere. There's no current testing organization (JGV_USA may provide a test venue in the future) but still pups from approved parent club litters are sold here. I would again recommend he contact the club/breeders. GWP's are not DD's in that they are not registered, tested nor bred under the rules of the parent club. I would comment that if there's interest in setting up a VDD-NZ, Wolf Schmidt-Korby and his wife, Utta, from JGHV Germany are both English speakers and might be able to help you along. Just remember, no amount of testing outside the JGHV standard by judges who are not trained and registered will turn a GWP into a DD. Quote Link to post
kiwi 4
the main problem is the reg, fci, all our gwp's are classed as dd's in the nzkc and can be registered as such, so a dd imported here becomes a gwp. Quote Link to post
steamingutpiles 117
Here's a pic of my old dog "Guido" excellent on Sambar deer. Sadly he had an encounter with a snake about a week after this photo was taken............RIP Guido The dog tracked this wounded stag for over 800 metres through thick dry bush 12 hours after it was shot by a novice hunter. I am having difficulty finding quality DD's here in Australia. I'd be keen to hear from DD/GWP people who haven't condemed their dogs to the show ring.
