jigsaw 11,899
This is a pic of my mates bitch, she is a mixture of working terriers, there is some Patterdale,E.bull and fell terrier. This is her 1st serious season, she has proved to be a real game terrier so far.Yesterday this bitch was dug to on 3 seperate occasions, the result being a succesful climax to each dig. This morning a farmer friend was waiting for us to sort out a lamb killer,to be honest its the 1st time we actually had a call out of this nature in years. We have taken foxes within season just before lambing which prevented any late night raids on the newly born stock.Since we started to hit the rabbits more seriously in the last few years I find we fall into other types of predator control also,(no complaints about that I can assure you ) This is a dog the same mate has, shes obviously russel/english bull 1st cross. Now you may know if you've read my previous poste I thouroughly dislike that breed(e/bull)Well this bitch is a very hard dog,she has 5 digs under her belt so to speak. The problem is if she tries a sett and nothing is home she is very reluctant to come out,she trys to convince herself that theres something home,a bloody very annoying habit.i personally wouldnt keep her but when she does meet the fox shes a battering ram.Straight in no kissing and kills them in a very short time. She came along for the walk today,I had the camera with me today but the farmer being there I was reluctant to whip it out and start taking snapshots in front of him. half n' half 8
that brindle bitch is very similar to a bitch a mate had years back which was a border/lakeland bitch put to a stafford dog. Quote Link to post
Guest shay
This is also an English Bull first cross Russel, I hate the bitch and not my sort of dog at all, but boy can she feckin work, the pup at the side of her is her back to a full Russel, its now 13 months old and going like billy o Quote Link to post
half n' half 8
you hear of quite a few EBT cross' being good hard working dogs but rarely do the pure english bulls do anything of note at work.why is this? does the outcrossing bring out qualities from deep inside the EBT blood or is the crossbred just carried by the quality of the terrier blood used in these cross' ? jigsaw 11,899
The reason you never hear of E/B's working is because they're FAT USELESS b*****ds but your right they for some reason produce a worker or two.Shay I have to say she is a stunner,if you ever want rid of her for a fair price let me know, and yeah I know the answer allready,NO CHANCE.I had a few half bulls over the years and they were very bloody argumentitive, would work till they dropped(and some did)but once bred back to a good small russel they then produced some fine workers.I would prefer a hard dog anyway but the time they spent laid up was a bit of a drawback plus you had to pick your spots to work them.If it was deep they would be very severly tattooed when you got to them. But I'd still like to have one again Quote Link to post
Guest whitser
i like the wirey at the top, is she hard on fox? Quote Link to post

lampinglurcher 36
i think part of the reason that ebt's in their purebred form aren't particularly good hunters is because they were never bred to hunt - just baiting and fighting i believe? perhaps someone with abit more knowledge on the breed could help us out. crossed to hunt bred dogs they ebt can add tenacity especially when fighting an animal (fox etc), they add alot of pain resistance as the breed has a very high pain threshold. unfortunately ebts are often stubborn as feck and prefer to do their own thing if they think theyre right. ive seen one or two decent crosses though. Stabs 3
because they were never bred to hunt - just baiting and fighting i believe? Show dogs bred from dogs that were workers at some point in the past http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...opic=17492&st=0 Anyone with an interest in this breed should read this book...it's a belter http://www.betterbrand.dk/thebullterrier/n...vin-kane-gb.htm Quote Link to post
