Canadian Black Bears 23
Top of the morning to everyone, I just wanted to share a story my brother had when he was called about these 2 bucks locked together after a battle of the brutes. He is a nuisance animal officer for our provincial government in the natural resources department here in Nova Scotia, Canada. He gets calls to take care of any nuisance wildlife and injured wildlife. He rec'd a call on October 5th from a farmer who came across these 2 bucks locked after an obvious fierce battle in his grain field. Believe it or not, the larger of the 2 did not survive and the 1 which did survive was barely alive when he got there as who knows how long they had been locked together. He darted the live one, which he is kneeled beside, and had to cut the antlers in order to unlock them. When it came to, it tried to get up but it was just too tired and just layed where it was. Our provincial law would not allow him to take it to a reserve or game park and to let nature take its course; therefore, he had to leave it where it was. The next day he went back and the buck was gone so it did survive and will be a great addition to the gene pool in that area. It's too bad the larger of the 2 bucks did not survive but I guess this is nature's way of taking its course. I have a picture of the head, with my brother holding it, of the 1 which did not survive but the attachment was too big to add to this topic; therefore, I will start a new topic with the picture added to it as the buck is very, very impressive indeed. Hope you all enjoy the pictuires and safe hunting....Rob Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Was that deer still sedated when he was kneeling next to it? If not it must have been seriously tired! Quote Link to post

Nope, the deer is sedated. It was the 1 that was barely alive when it came to. It did survive as was gone the next day when he went back. Quote Link to post
