Ferret play pen option

Recommended Posts

We are new to ferreting and are trying to figure the best/least expensive locator before taking the ferts out. In the mean time we have the ferrets inside on a daily basis usually two at a time, and Ive noticed that they really like investigating/playing in bags with items in them.

I know Ive seen people use boxes with pingpong balls for them to dive into, but has anyone tried those foam nodules about an inch long used for packaging in a large box.

I can't think of any downside to them at the moment but if any one can think of a problem with this please let me know before we try it out.

Any other idea would be welcome too.

You only need a terrier locator, if you are going to use the dog going to ground on Fox control, you dont need a locator for hunting rabbits or Rats.

With the mark 3 collar you can put a longer strap on them, Simon Whitehead mentions this on his video deben ferret finder introduction, on you tube, at the end of the video, he says you just need to purchase a Terrier collar and shows you how to attach it to the ferret collar.

Sorry this was meant for another post.

I had an outside pen. Just get a cardboard box as big as you can, fill it with them packaging nodules you was saying and throw the ferrets in. They love it. Balls on string, cat toys, balls with bells in, tubes, ladders, bits of rope. Use your imagination.

You don't need a locator to

Ferret. Having one is a bonus but not a necessity

Good news all I need to do is hunt down som of those nodules.

THANKS to everyone.

I'm just outside of Cardiff,

I haven't been out with the ferrets yet, still looking for permissions but should have one or two by end of the week I'm hoping.

My better half use to have them as a young girl, but not sure that she actually used them.

If using 'packing peanuts' for keeping the ferts amused, make sure they are made of starch. Starch peanuts/nodules dissolve in the ferts stomach if they do chew them, the polystyrene version do not dissolve and so can cause nasty blockages. Recommend them myself, can put you in touch if you want any. Atb.
