Moll. 1,770
I got the same one..... Dear Applicant: Under the last assessment, we investigated your payments for the last three years and our calculations shows you made over payments of 439.43 GBP. During the tax year (which runs from 6 April to 5 April) there are key dates for sending in your tax return and making payments. It's important that you're aware of these dates - HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) can impose penalties and additional charges if you miss them. Due to the high volume of refunds you must complete the Tax Return Form. Please make sure you complete the form correctly. There are now only a few cases where HMRC still allows you to send your tax return on paper, instead of sending it online, without getting a penalty. Please complete the Tax Return Form And this one.... We recently reviewed your account, and your Halifax Online Banking account Database Identity Confirmation is Required. Protecting the security of your account and updating our server is our primary concern. Therefore, as a preventative measure, we have temporarily limited access to sensitive account features. To restore your online banking access, we developed a new secure way that keeps your banking safe, we have attached a form to this email to complete this process. Please download the form and follow the instructions on your screen. If you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choice but to temporary suspend your account. Thanks you for your patience as we work together to protect your account. Sincerely, Halifax Online Bank Customer Service *Important* Please update your records on or before 48 hours, a failure to update your records will result in a temporary hold on your funds. And this one.... You sent a payment of 64.89 GBP to Skype(support@skype.com)Thanks for using PayPal. To see all the transaction details, log in to your PayPal account. mangy1983 51
One thing l have found when these emails do get past your spam filter is that if you hover over the email address even if it says account@paypal.co.uk etc is that if you hover over it, it will say janine@tiscali.co.uk etc. You can easily do this with email address on yahoo, thats one of the ways l know it is a scam email. What amazes me is the amount of people who get caught out having never passed their emails to said organizations in the first place! rob190364 2,594
I got an email from Natwest saying I needed to reset my online banking password (so I needed to enter my old one to do so)....I don't have a Natwest account....next day got same email but for Barclays, then for Halifax. If they send out enough of these they're going to get actual passwords off some people who are taken in by it. Absolute scumbags!

kenny14 656
Many of these emails aren't intended to scam you out of money directly, they've usually got an attachment which if you open, infects your pc with a virus, spyware, malware etc. Some of these can steal any passwords that are stored on your pc.
