Guest Ditch_Shitter
Ok lads; No need for anyone to sweat over half a dozen planks here. As Ratsnatcher's implied: Things in the real world seldom match quite up to a bit of paper. Like my ground here, it's more random and bumpy. Anyway, I also know - because I'm here and looking at it - that there's a hitherto unmentioned complication at one end of this fence to be. I have a small cross ditch to work around and the whole lot is going to end ..... I'm really just not sure yet! I may run it to a small tree in the hedge. I may sink the last post right into my cross ditch. I may ..... who knows yet? I'll sort that out when I come to it. Thus there's, as yet, nothing That exact. Anyway, Arras Rails; I now see ye mean 'just' rails? To me, Arras has always been the term we applied to triangular sectioned rail which we used on roofs. That's why I couldn't firgure out where they came in. Straight foreward 'Cross Rails', of normal, rectangular timber? No problemmo Well, nothing's liable to happen here till at the very earliest this week end. Even if anything happens by then it'll likely only be be sinking the uprights. They'll be bedded in concrete and so that'll leave me at least another blank week before I go near those again. Mheanwhile, one of my Dogs took himself off on a guided tour of the neighbourhood as soon as I let them out the door today. Discovered that only when I went after another who I realised was considering the same route! That's f*cking It! I'll be sorting through my many and various chains and shackles presently. For now and from now on I'll simply have to get up of a day, take them out there and just tether each of them to a chain. They want to breath fresh air and feel the sunshine? They'll just have to do it sat on chains till I get that fence up. I can't take any more of this. My nerves are getting shredded. Back to those Gravel Boards; Yeppers. We have 7" planks here. They're what I use for building shed doors with. Pat wants me to make him fresh doors for his entire farm and we're not too fussy as he works at the merchants yard anyway. He'll just do what he did last time; Load the truck up with a load of what looks usefull and drop it off for me. Half a dozen of those planks, more or less, won't enter into it So saying, I'm just finishing my mooch through this place and then I'm off to fit the other side of a door frame in the 'stock sheds. Then I'll take a moment to stand looking at my ground and shall try to visualise how I'll be laying those Gravel Boards and where all that'll leave me. Thanks again, lads
