potshot86 0
Hi everyone. Got this call off my parents for my birthday a couple of months ago. It say on the packet "The flexible body allows callers to squeeze the end and change tones to produce the natural sounds of multiple Pintails, Widgeon, Teal, Mallard, Drake, Quail, and Hawks." So far I have managed to resemble what could be a wigeon but when I try and make any other calls......nothing even close to anything its suppose to. Anyway just wondering if anyone has had one of these and had any luck or should I just give up with it?
peter121 6
hello mate. i have never heard of this caller. i myself use scotch callers duck/goose the duck caller is great you just waggle it for the feeding call (its fatal)it has a bellows system so you can make the quack as well. goose caller needs a little bit of practice . i would not get shut just keep practicing should come right. regards peter. remi700 99
Haven't actually blown a flextone version but I asume there similar to other 6-1 whistles. For pintails flutter your tongue in a short burst. For teal just a short pip. Mallard drake will take some practice but the air comes from your throat. Hard to explain but you make a sorta whhhooooooo with your throat. The widgeon they speak of is the american widgeon which makes a different sound to the European widgeon. Don't no what a quail sounds like but id imagine you'd be a long time callin before one would turn up. Certainly wouldn't give up with it. A useful call to have with you for teal and pintail if you ever see them. You can easily make a widgeon call with 2 used shotgun shells. Heat to remove the plastic hull. turn upside down and tap out the spent primer with a nail. if you have a hammer with a ball on 1 end put the ball inside 1 of the brasses and hit it a tap to splay it out slightly. Then put 1 inside the other and press closed in the vise. Suck through it to make the sound of a widgeon. PS its not every1 that works but make a few and pick the best. Try different shells. Some work better then others.
