Tyla 3,179
My ticket has just come back with the .243 on it, im looking for advice on what to get. Im on a fairly tight budget and would prefer to spend as much as possible on the scope and keep costs down on the rifle. Please advise, thanks Quote Link to post
yeeharr 41
CZ or Howa mate, reasonable prices. If you want a secondhand one, try East Grinstead guns, you can have a deal and they've got a few out the back. Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
Parker Hale,, great guns and can be found cheap. 1 Quote Link to post
Tyla 3,179
Cheers lads, I used to work at westons so i know the lads at Andersons pretty well. I will see what they've got, anymore suggestions? Quote Link to post
jamie g 17
nothing wrong with cheaper rifles mate. just make sure the shop owners dont try and sell you a duff. its ok being cheap but if its had a lot of use a rebarrel can be a costly thing. looks along the lines of a tikka m595 and you wont go far wrong Quote Link to post
bob.243 9,219
Have look on Guntrader UK, plenty to choose from on there, new Mossberg's, Savage's & Browning's pretty reasonable. ATB Bob. Quote Link to post
Lewdan 17
hi mate. have a look at the Howa 1500, not bad price new, but second hand even better! good solid rifle that will last you years. LD Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188
Can't go wrong with the Parker Hale's. Cheap as chips and based on a tried and tested action. Have a good look at the action for wear, and a really good look at the barrel, and try to shoot it before you buy if possible. My £200 rifle knocks over deer all day long! Quote Link to post
mattydski 560
Remington...... 700.. something like a SPS DM Not the best looking rifle, but most will shoot, and yo can dress them up later... when youve got a bit more to spend. Second hand Tikka's Parker Hale.. ( I know where there is a good one for sale..) My mate has it,. CZ are good Plenty of choice.. Quote Link to post
remington700 0
I went for a new remington 700 sps £700 with a Bushnell banner dusk.dawn 8-16x50 £170 with an AES sound mod £250 Which took all the kick from the rifle which means the scopes safe from recoil.Everyone told me i needed S&B or Zeiss scopes but if i can hit a rabbit at 200 yards on the lamp i think i can hit a deer and its as clear as a bell. Good luck with your purchase Quote Link to post

michaelswampy 0
or if u look at the saddlery and gun room in westerham they do complete kit for £550 new gun scope and mod i got my 243 and have been thinking about getting one hope this helps mate Quote Link to post
Lloyd90 509
Watch out for complete kits, I saw a Remington 770 kit and it was a horrible action, the 700 is supposed to be alot better. I have a CZ 550 in 243 and it does the job lovely, you can pick up an older CZ or Parker Hale for about £2-300 so not bad. Quote Link to post
