darbo 4,774
only seen 1 ex track bred bitch run. she could certainly catch a hare on big open fields. dont want to put a downer on things but she only lasted 1 season killed in a bad accident at the back of a hare. hope you have good luck with yours. staffs riffraff 1,068
Get a good one and they will tackle anything but yours might be a bit too old to adapt to field without a lot of work. I got lurcher1 grey here he a good dog his sister also worked to a good standard with another member of this site but she passed away now. They won't be as good as a good lurcher but can be very rewarding this one and his sister were got around a year and bought up as lurchers and he got good feet get good stamina for a grey when fit and just a very likable dog that in future he keeps proving worthy would be hood to put a bit of speed and conformation back into a lurcher as he got good feet and quite durable Quote Link to post
lurcher330 2,297
they can be good for out mooching and hanging around the hole while digging ,they can work well on the lamp if ye know their limits ,they can't handle as many runs as your average lurcher,i have seen a few over run and have to be carried back to the van and i seen one that a lad started lamping and mooching at about 9 mths old that was a good worker but when he took it to the track to give her the 1st time trail she tryed to cut the hare off and broke her leg on a rail Quote Link to post
