Guest Dunna
Hi Whitser, make sure you know who your getting dogs from in the south as there is constantly hounds being passed on that are useless. We got caught last season with a few unwanted beagles Quote Link to post
COMPO 54
If you want a small pack i would be tempted to keep a couple of the bitch pups, if the mother is decent (or showing promise , i realise she is very young) and you were going to get another hound anyway, why not keep one of the pups? i know you dont know what the father is etc...but they will be half harrier either way , keep the most houndy looking one's, if the father is a beagle, they will/should be decent sized little hounds and capable of working whatever? if the father is not the beagle they will still be half hound! She looks like the kind of hound i like, i like the heavily coloured tri coloured type. good luck and keep us posted Quote Link to post
Guest whitser
i'll probably try and get some hunting mates to hang on to one, i'll wait and see what the pups are like first. Quote Link to post

north warwickshire beagles 0
hi mate have a look at a slow basset if you can hold a line fantastick and the their bay is incredable or a beagle could be good really, any hound is good really lol ATVB Rob i think they are just different strain of hound. as i said i know nowt about hounds. think harriers are a bit smaller then the old eng fox hound. thought harriers where all lemon in colour? Harries have to be atlest 16-17 inch to the leg and fox hounds are 19 inch and above and beagles are anything below 16 inch ATVB Rob Quote Link to post
