keepitcovert 842
Had both types and both can do the job, look at the type of ground you are running, collie greys have the edge on the bigger fields, for a ferreting companion beddy whips take some beating. Beddys ive had took more effort to train than a collie grey. But the choice is yours good luck. 1 Quote Link to post
obi2 239
First dog, I'd definatly go for the collie greyhound. IMO you have an just as good ferreting dog and a more likely better lamper. It wouldn't be as strong headed as a beddy/whippet. Quote Link to post
markja 51
iam undecided between the too for my next dog. Quote Link to post
canaliculata 28
Id be thinking along the lines of collie/greyhound x whippet or if i was going down the beddie route 3/4 whippet 1/4 bed or bed/grey x whippet. All though saying that in all fairness never owned a beddie lurcher, but i would want something a bit taller than the first cross bed/whip, would be a bit more handy for lamping, although a first cross would do it. I have found collie crosses good all round rabbiting dogs, my current half cross is now nine and a half, very sensible bitch. Just make sure you get it off good stock. What about a whippet? ponte 222
beddy x greyhound Quote Link to post
wharrier 39
Would stay away from a beddy cross if its your first dog mate can be very frustrating my beddy whip lovely little dog but can really get me frustratwed like totally diffrent from dogs I've had in the past atb whatever u choose Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
A cross between the two would be my choice over any first cross of the breeds mentioned. Quote Link to post

whippet08 8
Ive a collie x grey x whip, also a firstcross beddy whip, collie grey is a steady girl good all round, beddy whips slight head strong but is a serious dog and they both please but the beddy sometimes has me cursing. Dheff 6
Definitely go for the collie/grey. My uncle has had both types, and the beddy/whippet can very quite stubborn throughout the adolescent stage. However if your confident in training and the patient type, which I'm not, he said the beddy/whippet is worth it after it's gone through the sappling (teenager) stage. I would go for the collie/grey, seriously thinking of getting that cross for my next dog. ATB 1 Quote Link to post
Romany 1,065
Wouldnt have either, but if I had to pick one to save my life, it would probably be the Bedlington as I was born in Bedlington Quote Link to post
