sowhat 1,572
rr The blue bitch arrived at 4.45am this morning, it came out back end first, Sheila was very trusting by allowing me to gently pull it from her after 20 mins of struggling to part with her. The black dog was born at 7.50am with no probs, will keep a very close eye over Sheila over the next 24 hours just incase there's any more, then off to the vets in the morning for a full check up. To say we are over the moon is a under statement well done Sheila. Well can't beleive 12 months as gone already.these 2 gorgeous pups were a year old yesterday. Afew recent pics of our Milly Well since my last post, things went tits up with Milly, all of a sudden she started putting the deaf head on, chasing after joggers, running up to strange dogs on our mooch and barking at them, but at the same time she was shit scared. I tried to correct her but to no avail, I even asked my mate Sam to keep his ears open for a working home, a one to one relationship might have done it' 4 months down the line, I got up one morning sat thinking what went wrong with my little girl who was so eager to please me. 1 she had her first season in the march, and it was the end of may when it went tits up (hormones) 2 Her mother can't stand strange dogs, but I've always been able to control her if she's with in shouting distance 3 She always out with a pack of at least 6/7 dogs, so I thought it could be a pack thing 4 When trying to correct her verbally, it was starting to make the rest of the dogs abit on edge 5 Solution, got my arse out of bed & started a one to one relationship with her, I would put her on a lead if I saw a dog or a jogger approaching, telling her "good girl" with just afew throaty grumbles coming from her. From july to sep I've spent at least 3 hours a day on a one to one relationship, and I'm very pleased to say, I've got my Milly back to how she used to be, and the thought of me finding a home for her turns my stomach over. It's so nice for her not to be upsetting the apple cart on our mooch, all in all, we're one big happy family once again. 14 Quote Link to post
skycat 6,174
That's so good to hear she's come round. I've had similar issues with one or two of mine in the past, and it always got sorted by a bit of one to one: it's all too easy to let the pack bring a pup up, but it's not until we get problems that we realise that 'pack' isn't always a good thing. My most nervous bitch is horrible when she's out with the pack: growly, stiff legged when we meet other dogs, but really just a fear thing. Get her on her own and she's a different animal altogether. We sometimes don't realise that all the different types of behaviour correspond with an individual dog's place in a natural or wild canine pack, but not necessarily the appropriate thing in today's society where dogs have to abide by human rules and laws! 2 Quote Link to post
