Ferrets at the vets

Took the ferrets to the vets today to get neutered and the female spayed. They were saying that the female also needs an implants after she has been spayed to keep the hormones. Is this right? I thought the implant was an alternative to spaying?

If the ferrets have been spayed/neutered, they shouldn't require an implant to control hormones. The implant can reduce the risk of Adrenal Disease in neutered ferrets, as well as control hormones/Adrenal Disease in unneutered ferrets. Can't see why a spayed jill must have an implant. My jills are spayed, never been implanted and have no hormone issues. Atb.

Do they implant dogs and cats when theyre spayed and castrated? Dont think they do. So why implant when ferrets are spayed.

how much was it to get the hob done, thinking about getting mine vasectomised.

They said £40 but then added an extra 15 for the anethestic.
