Cleanspade 3,324
the wptf. is as good as it gets for folk keen on working their plummers. . but the hunting life and moochershunting. are better for working terrier info. as these sites are not breed specific. and have a vast amount of information. and some very knowledgable members. you get used to dodging the winkers Quote Link to post

It did'nt take you long to see though the smoke britishbull24,its a shame really as if the genuine lads that could make the difference were allowed to gain some power on the various club panels, etc, then we could all be kept happy and there would be a marked improvement in the breed and its forums, atb,WM 1 Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
The way things look with this dog WM, i'd let 'em all do what they do and the folk like yourself, who value graft above all else, do what you do... i've been on this sight long enough an I still don't can't work out one 'club' from the next in Plummers... The Plummer Peoples Front, or the Peoples Front of Plummers.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gb_qHP7VaZE Quote Link to post

wirral countryman 2,110
Bosun 11,there are only 3 main clubs and all of them were either started or hijacked by nonworking types that just liked to show and consequently the breed lost its way, each club had its own idea on which way to progress and breeding was kept to a small gene pool within each club causing health problems for the resulting progeny, the new stud book allowing cross club breeding was supposed to help the situation but there still seems some apprehension for fear of upsetting the hierarchy of their own relative clubs, its a shame to see a breed that should of made its mark by now in its own right as a 100% worker be held back by fools trying to retain some assemblance of power within their own small clubs,I've had a plummer or hybred in my kennel since around 1979/80 and I've never had a poor one that never gave me 100% effort in the field were it counts, not on a podium in a show, there are too many people scared to relinquish any power or control for fear of missing the boat if they become K C registered,as I have said on many previous occassions its a shame as this breed had so much potential till the various meddling began, plummer left a perfectly good breed standard and if everyone bred towards the one goal it would have been met by now on a more regular basis, you cannot register a breed that has never bred true to type for long enough or worked enough to gain the recognition needed for the respect of most ordinary terriermen,I hope this goes some way to explaining the politics involved in owning a plummer, atb,WM Quote Link to post
buster gonads 862
Its effing hard work being a Plummer owner i joined both the WPTF and the EPTS, bad move, i left the EPTS as i found i had more in common with the lads and lass's on the WPTF, iam not pro KC and dont like the tit for tat slagging that goes on, if i were the KC i would,nt touch the Plummer with a barge pole . Britishbull24, when do you get the pup and which one did you go for, atb, buster. Edited June 22, 2012 by buster gonads Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
I really just don't get it... Just buy a fecking dog an graft it, hard.... Thats the only club anyone needs to be in, the 'I work my terrier' club'. Quote Link to post
Cleanspade 3,324
is that the peoples. i work my terrier club. or the i work my terrier peoples club. its all very simple really. its the same as the jack russell. where you have the jack russell club of great britain. the british jack russell club. the now registered parson jack russell club. ( oops i mean the parson russell club.) they dropped the word jack. shortly after de registering all kens. ( kenterfox} reg terriers . due to them being unpure. ' check out some old border or beddy threads for more comparisons. we only need to look through past posts to see the ugly side of all of our prefared breeds. my prefared breed was always the russell . ( the peoples working russell). but i now have a couple of plummers and have got to say ive took to them and will probably allways have one or two . i'm not as yet in any plummer club but do intend to get more involved in this breed. yours in sport.Brian. youngo 20
I must admit i do like the plummer terrier and had one in my kennels about ten years ago, but how the feck can they survive as a working breed when dogs and bitches are mated because of their coat pattern rather than their working abillity 1 Quote Link to post

Cleanspade 3,324
I must admit i do like the plummer terrier and had one in my kennels about ten years ago, but how the feck can they survive as a working breed when dogs and bitches are mated because of their coat pattern rather than their working abillity same as any breed. the working qualities will suffer if you breed for anything above working ability. as is happening as we speak with the patterdale. foolish folk breeding for colour . coat type. etc. there are some very nice types of lakies around sporting lovely bright red jackets. chocolate is the in colour for patts. folk that keep any breed for working and rely on there dogs will breed for the right attributes and will have standards. the colour / coat pattern. will be secondary . this type of question is asked constantly along with many other similar opinions. most if not all of them are valid and fair comment. the only beef i have with this is that they are not asked of the working terrier in general. as all working breeds have these issues. some folk have an axe to grind with the breed. some with the creator. for some reason some folk even find them a threat to the working terrier in general the plummer has its fair share of messers. idiots. and self proclaimed gods. show me a type of terrier that doesnt have this cross to bare . these terriers have plenty to offer . and some of the working sorts in the breed are decent honest lads/lassies. you cant judge a whole breed on one or two animals. or the owners on one or two messers. you have to keep an open mind . and judge the dogs and there keepers as individuals. there are a lot of folk spout off about this breed but only a few doing anything to improve its lot. on the working front. rant over to anyone that is looking for a plummer i would say stay away from show bred stock and comercial kennels. seek out folk that use there terriers for a specific task and get your name down. be patient there arnt a lot of these about so be willing to wait. 2 Quote Link to post
