123456 146
There no right or wrong to this, it all depends on personal preference based on the character of a dog you like, the ground you run and the way you hunt the quarry. For example I have a little whippet cross bitch that down here in devon killed a good number of hares before the ban but when taken to nofolk she didn't have the speed to even put a bend in a decent hare then on the opposite the bullx struggled to catch foxes on the small fields down here but would slaughter them on big ground 1 Quote Link to post
LEWIS123 449
saluki bull grey a decnt allrounders Quote Link to post
stormyboy 1,352
3/4 Grey/collie must be one of the most versatile lurchers imo. Speed, brains, nose and bottle in the right one. 1 Quote Link to post
fitchet 788
in my opinion a good saluki\greyhound is versatile enough to do all you ask of it whether thats ferreting on a frosty morning or killing fox on a dark night . . . . . aswell as bieng tough enough to run any ground anytime. chartpolski 23,956
Half the crosses mentioned on this thread wouldn't get near a good winter hare. Cheers. 1 Quote Link to post

whin 463
never heard so much crap get dogs that are proven hare catchers etc breed them to proven allrounders and youll get allround dogs went this way with the dogs and there all doing a good job cant beat it realy , its worked for me and others , its a clever thing breeding dogs and they come out how you want them to , there doing it in usa as wee speak one part staghound rest saluki greyhound type there big enough tough enough for a coyote and long winded for a good jack rabbit , the best of them , Quote Link to post
