His dam was a pure Greyhound; nobody know's what the sire was. The dam was handed in to the pound pregnant and the pups were born in the pound. The rest, as they say, is history ! LOL !

If you look at your dogs as pets first and workers second then you'll probably think along the lines of Vee. If you think of your dogs as workers then you'll probably think like Whin. No right, no wro

Don,t sweat it mate , you,v got lots and lots and lots and lots of time.

To be honest mate, if you have spent all this time when she has been confined etc, getting a good bond with her and making her responsive, getting good recall etc, then you are half way there.   She

Dont give up on the Dog, when hes fit get him out, hopefully he will pick up on the marking which is a great benefit when ferreting,

When the Dog is fully fit, then you will know if he is going to take the knocks, what i would advise, if you have not done already, is, get the Dog on a pet plan and at least you will be covered.

all the best with him.

I START MINE WHEN THEYRE READY,thats not to say 12mths his to late .DEPENDING ON THE LINE ETC ,stock breaking and just getting them out and about does for me some dont pull together right till almost 24mths ,seen to many ruined and not reach there full potential through premature entering multitude of faults can manifest themselves with going to early, not to mention the animal needs to grow out inside has well has out .PATIENCE HIS A GREAT WEAPON TO ANY STOCKMAN SOME JUST NEVER BEGET IT ,Ilike to think tyhat when the animal his put to seious work theyre full capable and conditioned to do so ,some believe thaT CERTAIN TYPES ARE BRED FOR ONE SPECIES OF GAME OR QUARRY,THAT MAYBE SO BUT THERE ARE LOTS LOST THROUGH IGNORANCE and for not wants of taking the time for gradually easing them in to the hunting job whatever .for they need to run each and every species game or quarry

Whin wrote the wee pup off when he seen her at Selkirk, broken leg, looking like a bag of sh!t. Exact words 'get rid of that dog, it's fcuked, will never run again, get yourself a proper dog'. My arse.

Took it on the chin, dog will come right I'm sure.

veedublee, i saw her at selkirk , hows she getting on , i read about the other mishap, i told you mine broke both bones in front leg , he was'nt rushed , has recovered brilliantly too, even catching game now too , so all i can say , time the best healer

That reply is exactly what makes new dogmen and women not want to ask questions to things they don't know. Your on here putting people down and constantly putting their dogs down. Times change whin. You need to move with the times. Was you born knowing everything? 'go out an learn yourself' I bet you will say. I'm out as much as I can. Technology allows information to be passed much easier nowadays so you can learn by asking them that might now more than you. Do me a Favour and don't reply to any of my posts. I cant be fcuked talking to you.

Ive owned working dogs all my life on the farm for herding had a dog to help me from 11 years old.

Then labs terriers and any old sort of cross that could catch.

Well I met my wife 15 years ago who was a complete townie but over the last 15 years she has taught me more about dogs than any other dogman taught me in the first 15 years of dog ownership.

We have or I should say she has acheived some of the most sound bidable dogs Ive ever seen.

And I could be sure her dogs could give the guys a run for there money on here but to be honest we keep a lowish profile .

We have had two rescue dogs all over two years old and I be sure they never worked with ferrets in the former ownership.

But with time love and displine a good standard of dog can be acheived regardless of background.

It does seem that on THL there is if it dogs not perform shovel to back of head symdrome is very strong in the blood.

Your dog even though not a ideal situ can still become a cracking dog with time and if you where closer than sunny scotland me and wife would be only too willing to help you out.

Good luck Cookie
