rabbit numbers

just out of curiosity whats the biggest bags of rabbits you've had daytime or night? with the recent posts from the dales, i was just curious. ATB

in the early ninties saw a hundrd plus ferreting and 60 70 single handed not the rabits about a normal nite early ninties was 40 plus for 3 hours at most some nites early season in borders of scotland,and other areas up north of scotland it is was living , saw guys shoot 400 plus in a nite , if you were keen enough 150 plus with a few trained dogs was possible in some areas , as the farmers were getting paid for setaside and never botherd about the vermin on some bits ,rabb were plaugue proportions i used to go home with twenty afrer 2 hours and wasnt happy ,now some areas you would be more than happy

400 in a night would be an awesome prospect, maybe one day ey. I bet the butchers liked you

And what would you do with that amount of numbers, plenty of bunnies still out their if you know where to look, as for me, no big number bragger here, its all about getting yaself and dogs out and enjoying the sport, 2 or 3 bunnies at any one outing , and im happy with that, its the way my dogs work for their catch, turns me on, i bet im the owdest on this site, but still give it [bANNED TEXT] fer, im blessed with lots of permission, both local and afar, i was on a mooch yesterday, fresh pastures, jesus, it was alive wi bunnies, but alas i was trespassing, arent i the norty one

would sell them hence they culled big numbers ,not uncommon with box traps back then to take 40o with dog ferets and box traps early season , i stopped going wjhen we had done the farmer a big favour started to get maybe only a dozen says fech it , but there was biggr and better on the horizon lol , im glad i saw numbers with the rabbits, but at the time there wasnt the money in them like nowadays ,

i sell all my bunnys to a gh man so for me its good to get big numbers butt thats not to say i don't enjoy my rabbiting because i just love it

if i went out for seven hours hard lamping you would need a few dogs , a few lamps and afew carriers,and a few homes for the gear ,and it would be a trek , when youve ben at the gam eyou get to no best nites what time roughly dependimng on weather , tempreture etc , and when guys used to poach they went in hard 2 to 3 hours at most and away longer your about more hassle at times seven hours fech thats a long walk for twenty rabbs

i am aload to drve his stuble fields when he cuts it was 2 dogs butt like i say hardly owt a bout my times at lamping is roughly 5 hours thats prety regular for me

_{done all nighters but on ground thats heaving , i would have your dog run ragged localy in 5 hours , on some bits ,som eplaces just dont hold gam eothers were built for game like proper estates moorland etc hill land secluded areas ,}

fair play to you gaffer lad.some people don't have land busting with game on their doorstep and have to do the hours to get the numbers up.
