Taking dogs to and from Europe

Recommended Posts

Just woundering if anyone takes there dog to and from Europe.? What is the procedure.? We live in the UK and CZ Republic Central Europe and are planning to buy a puppy Beagle but not sure if its worth it if we have to have it in Quarrentine for weeks on end before each trip to the Czech Republic. Is the law on dogs entering the UK from Europe still as stricked as its always been.?

Taking your dog on holiday takes some organisation, firstly you have got to apply for a passport, there are many regulations that require consideration, from safety in the car, to travelling on planes or ferries. These regulations change on a regular basis, so it is wise to check before you leave,

Your dog needs to be microchipped,Your dog must be vaccinated for rabies 21 days prior to travel,a month after the vaccination, a blood test is taken to make sure it has created enough antibodies, a passport is then issued once confirmed, when the passport has been issued the dog can travel to any of the countries on the defra list and return to the UK six calendar months from the date the blood test is drawn without going into quarantine
