the night hunter 130
i never really understood the bull/whippet. IMO you are crossing a strong corageous dog (bull) with the (in a lot of cases) the pussyiest weedy thin boned thin skinned dog. i understand what the logic is..... best of both but i think in a lot of cases you end up with the worst of both a dog that is undersized for a lot of things and hass the bull so watered down by the whippet blood. im sure a lot of theis is due to the fact people use jank whippet blood un tested either because they dont have the resourses to get genuine blood or are just breeding for looks. compared to the bullx ghound the bullx whippet is a far far outclassed by the bullxghound. can anyone who works these dogs (bullx whippet) tell what they are trying to acheive that couldnt get from bullxghound? if its speed and agility given by the whippet this can easily be achieved with bullx ghound if you selective breed and of course the biggest part use the best blood. If you get a dog thats bred well you'd be surprised what they're capable of.A lot of these dogs are popular these days because they don't look like the dick extensions that a lot of bull x lads crave..........in this day and age with this stupid ban, out of sight out of mind is the key.A little bull/whippet is not going to attract the attention that a big feck off bull/grey is. 2 Quote Link to post

Have you seen many bull/whips perform or are you baseing it purely on what you "think" they're capable of? A bull/whip is never going to be as strong as a bull/grey common sense will tell you this.........I've seen a few bull/whips doing there job and to say I was surprised is an understatement. johnny boy68 11,726
Did your mate not make a mistake then by breeding the second gen litter when by your own admission you were both dissappointed with them........if the first x were sub standard WHY breed a second gen? I totally agree with you that there are a lot of sub standard bull/greys out there.........probably more than any other breed of lurcher which is detrimental to the breed. Quote Link to post

I totally agree with you that there are a lot of sub standard bull/greys out there.........probably more than any other breed of lurcher which is detrimental to the breed. the reason we bread the 2 nd gen was because we didnt want to write them off compleatly and we hoped that by breeding back again we could add a bit mor vigour into the litter. the first breeding were a bit of a mix of light whippety type dogs and heavy bully tupe dogs (obvious) so with the second breeding we did manage to level this out but unfortunatly still were not happy. i will agree that the bullxgrey would atribute to the vast majority of shit out there and this is sertainly detrimental not only to the breed but also to general reputation to lurchers and lurcher men alike but this is something we can never change. mainly due to the fact that like you say its a bit of a dick extension. in the correct hands i do feel the bullx grey is an un believable x. 1 Quote Link to post
