air gun ant 1,666
Just wondering how old you think is to old to introduce a terrier to earth work? I have a 6/7 year old jrt x staff and always thought she would be to big for earth work but god I'd love to try her and the more I think about it the more I convince myself she'd be [bANNED TEXT]. But as I've never managed to get on a dig yet I'm still not sure of the size required etc? Shes mustard on rabbits when ferting but never come across a fox yet. What's your thoughts? To old? Thanks in advance Atb ant Quote Link to post

wirral countryman 2,110
Hello ANT,most terrier's that are going to work below will have self entered or found above ground by now and followed to ground, also you don't have any pics up of its size,a lot of staffy crosses would be too big for the average earth,is it spannable round the chest ?? has it got a good nose ?? just a few of the questions you should think about ,those terrier's that do work well below do not need much encouragement and without a locator can be a dangerous thing without any digging experience,it can be hardwork digging a 6ft hole to find your dogs moved on or not there,I'd suggest waiting till you gain some experience from an experienced person willing to let you tag along, sounds easy in a book but is different when you are the one making the decisions as to what to do and when, atb WM 1 Quote Link to post
