mintstick999 485
Not sure how true it is mate, but i was told it can take some of their spirit away, i've got 2 bitch's & 2 males, all entire, guess i'll just struggle on like i have for the last 6 years. both bitches in season at the minute. (great joy) I wish that were true! I had my bitch spayed at 11 months old. She never even came into season. She is a big, fit, healthy bitch ... but she's got attitude by the bucket load. Keen is an understatement. Spirited? Yes indeed, to the point of driving me mad. I can only imagine what she would've been like if she weren't spayed! It changes nothing imo Interesting topic, and i've learn't something new, guess i'll get my two done now then if it doesn't affect their spirit.
lurchergrrl 1,441
A lot of vets will say they have to have a season before they're spayed. I disagree for the most part. I prefer to let them mature for as close to a year as possible and then spay weather they've had a season or not. Vets will say to wait, but you can tell them to do it anyway if you feel the bitch has matured enough and should be done. No way could I cope with an in season bitch in my house. She drives me round the bend at the best of times but in season? I'd probably kill her
Moll. 1,770
Always had my bitches neutered young Minty, never effected them in any way, weight, drive, height, temprement etc...all fine
Guest dwain dibley
i have a dog and a bitch (terriers) the dog is "done" but the bitch isn't, when she is in season (now) they just end up scrapping as the bitch is shoving it in his face all the time so with what i've read so far on this thread i shall be getting her done before she starts again

ITS FREE FOR MALE DOGS AND £35 FOR BITCH That would only be if your on benifits, ferrifelboy - if you are on benifits then some of the vets round wigan do the dogs trust neutering, if your on any of these then you should be intitled to it, (Income support; Jobseeker’s Allowance; Working tax credit; Housing Benefit; Council Tax Benefit; Pension Credit) think its around 30 quid - the only two vets i know of are the ones in hindley, but there may be others.
