MikeTheDog 153
Just keep an eye on the weight. Not all dogs/bitches put on weight so don't loose sleep over it. Senicible thing to do if you have dog and bitch together.
matt b 21
Was speaking to vet about this recently and he said there is another option of chemical castration for the male

mintstick999 485
Not sure how true it is mate, but i was told it can take some of their spirit away, i've got 2 bitch's & 2 males, all entire, guess i'll just struggle on like i have for the last 6 years. both bitches in season at the minute. (great joy)
Neal 1,867
I was told it can sometimes alter the coat ie make it softer and less oily/coarse. Also, if spayed too young, they can keep some of their puppyish tendencies. Incidentally, I've had both my bitches done, for the same reason as you. The first definately has a softer coat but I've noticed no change to the other. Neither of mine have had weight problems.
Moll. 1,770
The only thing neutering changes is the ability to reproduce, nothing more, nothing less.
pat cope 7
Wonder if it alters their running ability ?
iceman001979 1,316
Take it from me mate l got my bitch done and its the biggest mistake l have every did the weight they put on is on real.L have cut down food and she still gets runs but has lost pace and yaps a bit now because she cant run as fast as she could. If l was you get the dog done not the bitch. Mate got his dog done and dog still the same, but do not get the bitch done nightmare
bunnybasher69 56
If neutered too young it can cause the bones to grow longer than they normally would have. I read about it when I was thinking about getting my bitch done. Skycat could probably say it much better than me.
lurchergrrl 1,441
Not sure how true it is mate, but i was told it can take some of their spirit away, i've got 2 bitch's & 2 males, all entire, guess i'll just struggle on like i have for the last 6 years. both bitches in season at the minute. (great joy) I wish that were true! I had my bitch spayed at 11 months old. She never even came into season. She is a big, fit, healthy bitch ... but she's got attitude by the bucket load. Keen is an understatement. Spirited? Yes indeed, to the point of driving me mad. I can only imagine what she would've been like if she weren't spayed! It changes nothing imo
