marshman 7,757
My first dig was on a railway embankment with my father and our jrt. On a Sunday my father would get up and take his terrier out and check the local earths. We had a shallow dig to a dog fox. Then after he would always go to the pub and then home for he's Sunday roast. After that day I was hooked, oh I was ten years old at the time! Quote Link to post

jigsaw 11,865
im the opposite,my father was totally opposed to hunting, never wanted me to be involved. He was an animal lover of sorts, only when it suited him.Well at 14 had my first dig to a terrier with a hunting man of old.and no going back to my fathers dismay.I ended up with a few ferrets,a terrier and a lurcher. It drove the poor man mental ,lol.Found out years later my grandfather whom I never knew as he died when I was very young was an avid hunter.Must be in the blood. NBW Terrier 16
14years ago I borrowed a book from my mate about the terriersport. The only hunter in the family was grandad but died when I was born, so must be something in what Jigsaw said, it's in the blood. Quote Link to post
tinytiger 831
an old man from co. tipp gave me a terrier when i was around nine,a fawn prick eared fell type-around a year or so later she ran to ground-after about half an hour or so of trying to get her out by calling her i went home and got a shovel and went back to dig to her and a very dead fox-i was still digging to that bitch the odd time when i was 21.The favourite dog ive ever had-shed jumped in for me when i was in a scrap with my neighbour 1 day,she was dancing around the fight, then she locked onto his groin and started shaking,it turned the fight lol..tiny was her name, tiger was a son out of her i had .I started going out hunting with a terrier man local to me with her then.
