Somethings obviously not right, lets face it a dog that loves to chase isnt suddenly going to do it half heartedly for no reason. Must be not fully recovered. Sometimes lurchers are just treated as machines and expected to do a job without hesitation, most do, so when a dog reacts like this alarm bells should be ringing.

if hes still running rabbits when the get up then i wouldnt say hes jacked...how many times did he run half down the beam???

about 4 times mate.. but i forgot to mention, he'l lamp sitters if there in the same field as me, it's when there other fields and he has to jump gate or fence etc.. he'l get over, jog half way down, stand and look about and come back ready for the lead, but if the sitter starts to run he'l run it with 110% effort. HD

went out lastnight with tommy my 3 year old beddy/whip x grey and after 2-3 runs he started running half way down the beam to a sitter then just making a u-turn as if he aint seen it and coming back to me... he's never done this before and it's really pissing me off as this dog has the heart of a lion and would literally kill himself for a bunny, as soon as it moves, he runs it like a trooper or slipped in with another dog he'll run the full beam and put the game up.. he was kept off for 5 weeks with a injury and obviously gained weight.. so i have to admit he aint the fittest at the moment, over the last 9 days its the most graft he ever seen with me, but not to strenious just trying to lose some weight off him and fitting him up.. I'm trying to think positive because i dont want to think my dogs jacked, but it could be a lot of things.. anyone had this before? if so what was the outcome.. gunna give him a rest and try him in a few days.. any advice, personal experience would be grealty apprecieated.. ATB HD

start again walk him up to the squoter in stead of siping him to it should do the trick

get him in the same field at least you will be sending him off down the road on his own next chances are he carnt see it

haha.. hope so mate, the dogs always gave me his all at all times.. just this injury has knocked him for 6, theres alot gone on and i think he's just having a bit of a bad time, il give him a little rest from the lamp and see what next time brings, HD.

yeah, I'm gunna give that a go next time.. just knocks ya sick when he's been lamping perfectly fine then all of a sudden one night decides to act up, thanks for the advice bud, HD.

my gues the dog has not spotad it mine do it when they havent seen it so i just get them back walk them right up to it soon as the dog pulls for it relase the hond

walk the dog up to every squoter give the dog an even better chance of catching it

as moll said, dogs have off nights.....cant wait for mine to have an "on" night! i have a dog of the same breeding as yours and he has never taken squatters, just never got the hang of it, he would even run down the beam to em and actually wait for em to get up. but my other dogs take em no problem. sounds like yours is just unsighted mate.
