I have had 8 lurchers bred out of track dogs 3 of them first crosses the rest being [bANNED TEXT] lurchers of mixed breeding have been put back to greyhounds non of them had the stamina and durability of the lurcher to lurcher bred dogs i have owned and the one out of a bitch called dot wat was out of some of the best coursing dogs in the country at the time to a greyhound the bitch i had had no natrual running ability like this strain had pluss sufferd badley with its feet all imho down to the fact a track dog was its sire.

very well said poacher havs been the same learned through experience, lurcher to lurcher all the way what ever type being considered .had a animal with stamina feet durable runnuing brain ,all lost with a simple outcross to a grey and the bitch grey was taken has a welp and and reared worked has a grey made no difference the gene off the grey can bring lots of negatives to a good working lineof allready quality lurchers .WHAT bugs me his the amount of enthusiasts that laugh and take no heed to the positive advice from those who have trodd the track . atb bunnys.

who on here has bred/worked good lurchers that are bred directly from track dogs/bitches??? whos had nothing but shite out of them?? id like to hear all the good and bad points, what you all KNOW FOR A FACT AS YOU SEEN IT YOURSELF, not what some tom, dick or harry did 20 years ago lol so this topic only concerns people who have had/bred dogs with half or more greyhound in them, so please dont post about lurcher x lurcher, etc

I wouldn't rate her as good but she's shown up a due experienced dogs is my first x collie grey , sire was the greyhound. As a worker she ain't to bad she will catch well on the lamp take squatters, jumps great. Great stamina will run all night or day And even tho I go once in a blue moon marks sets now and bushes through the bramble like a terrier and follows lines well, she will nail Charlie if there on offer. There her plus sides the negitives is her personality outside of the field she's a right sensitive fecker. If you up set her you know about it. Can drive me mad. She's a funny animal but I put that down to the collie in her that was the dam. although she has already taken over 200 rabbits her first season I won't have another there like a women on the leak. Prefer a more stable animal lol

The sire to this dog was a track dog and I've never had any dramas with his feet and you have you bear in mind that I run some truly atrocious land which ranges from baked hard and cracked, dusty flats to forest and swamp.

His dam had good feet though and I suppose he inherited those from her.

Not saying he's better than a lurcher to lurcher cross; just merely saying that he's got very good feet that withstand everything he's encountered so far. I guess a lot depends on what you start with. If you've got suspect or average feet, crossing to a greyhound ain't necessarily going to cure you're shortcomings.
