look out on new permission

Recommended Posts

me and my mate had to go and check our traps today and on the way back we desided to call in at a farm where we've see a few rabbits off the side of the road so we went and seen the farmer and he said that it was no problem at all we got ferreting and lamping permission it must be one of the easyest places we've got permission i wish all farmers we're like him hes got quite a bit of land but we only had a couple of hours before it got dark so we only got about quarter of it done we started to ratch the dykes with our terriers and it was'nt long till we put our first rabbit up and typical it ran out the side we didnt have a dog waiting :fool: any way the terriers chased it into a 3 hole set i had brought with me my jill ferrets one of witch is a polecat kit i left my other kit at home and thought id give this one ago this time i also brought my experianced jill just in case anyway i didnt net any holes on this set as we couldnt get into net them due to the thick gourse bushes so i entered the polecat jill it went in it worked the set quite well it located the rabbit after about 3 mins or so it took it about another 5 mins to bolt it i happened to look at the only hole i could see in the bushes and could see the rabbit struggling to bolt so i dived in the bushes and managed to grab the rabbit so that was rabbit number one i boxed the ferret and moved down the dyke but ther was no more to be put out of that dyke we ratched a few more dykes and got a couple of marks but desided to leave them as they were in big sets and the dykes were really thick and the light was fading but we will be trying them another day we moved further up the dyke and got a mark on a 5 holer so we tied the terriers up and desided to enter the ferret without netting up to give the lurchers a bit of sport the kit went in and a few seconds later we heard bumping and then the rabbit bolted on my side of the dyke i slipped my lurcher and it chased it down the dyke just as he went to strike at the rabbit it turned to its right and into the dyke and down one of the big sets there was nothing more in that set so i managed to box the ferret after a bit of it messing around running from hole to hole bloody kits  by this time it was just about dark so we headed back to the van and headed for home with only the one rabbit in the bag but ones better than nothing i suppose at least the kit got some work we're looking forward to going back and having a desent day at it. i hope you like the write up sorry no pics didnt want to take the camera with me as its been raining most of the day and its not waterproof. atb
