youg bitch over shooting on turn

Recommended Posts

got a young bitch here that i took out lastnite, her first run was doubled up on a big rabbit and did really well very tight to it, was only a short course cause it was by the hedge when they got to it. second run i ran her single handed and she got straight to it but was striking and over shooting on turn and had to work hard to get back to it. did this about three times in course and game made it to cover... do you think its cause shes just green?or over keen? or could it be bad balance? never had this problem with my other bitch in her first season, i only want the bitch to run local on lamp as i usually run daytime but i do want the best out of my dogs, just wondering what your thoughts would be on this and if you have exsprienced this before, did they come good ect? thanks

shes a saluki lurcher back to a saluki lurcherxgreyhound, very fast bitch and keen as they come, maybe like you said its the extra greyhound in her, she picked up the lamp first time out so im happy about that, but couldnt help thinking if that was my other bitch puss would have been dead.

Running two dogs on a hare, on the lamp !!! Oooooohhhh, the purists are going to be all over you, like a bad rash !! LOL !! I expect it's just 'cause she's young, mate; she'll tighten up with practice.

Cheers.

DONT REALLY CARE WHAT THEY GOT TO SAY  , it was her first time out we all got to start somwere.

the dog will learn to run and strike better if you run her on its own on bunnies nothing better for getting a young dog going put plenty in front and the dog will start to get in the swing of things in its own head on its own and not watching what the other dog is doing atb with her mate troter

no how you feel mate, im just gonna stick with her mate the boys that i was out with just reckon she was over keen, but shes a clever bitch round home, more brain than my other dogs, just hope she can use it in the field were it counts. shes well bred plenty of speed so hopefully she will come good. she aint the type of salukix to hold back she was trying the whole time so im happy about that.

The dog sounds fast and very keen

A few busy nights out and the dog should steady up when slipped.

Mine used to go up the beam like a greyhound out of a trap. Now he trots up nice and steady unless the rabbit starts its run before he gets there.

      **sorry for the double post**
I know I'm probably going to get the piss severely ripped out of me for asking this, but
Has anyone ever successfully trained a deaf lurcher (from two working parents and I own her 4 year old sister who is an awesome little bunny basher.)
Genetically she has potential, but...what do you experts think?
She's not a Double merle by the way, it's extreme piebald/white head. Her vision is perfect

      Evening all,
I'm lucky enough to have first pick from a friends litter. He’s crossed his Saluki dog with his Collie Bull GH bitch. I’ve only seen videos of the litter as he’s based in UK. Few different characters in the litter, some sit reluctant off in the back ground others play among themselves two are incredibly forward one more than the other.

What key things do you look for when picking a litter? I’ve mostly ran mine on rabbits, reds and some others.

      Go stead,
      oshea
