good tv, was a great fight, they said that they thought Benn was on steroid's , and it helped him to win with his strenght+stamina .? because he didnt have a urine test at the end of the fight, well you carnt if you pass out like he did, feck me he you fought like they both did, they were lucky he could walk out of the ring, never mind go for a piss. A very sad end to a fight, but looking back could they have done any differnt really. He was never knocked out, he just stopped, and there 3 doctors in the ring with him, would they have stopped earlier it, if it happend to day .??

Two men both at the top of their chosen sport they both gave their all that nite and both knew the risks involved but all ways think it will never happen . Would it be stopped earlier today . The signs were there that night his constant blinking trying to re focus are all signs of changes in brain patens . His long time mentor and coach emanual Stewart was not in his corner that night this all so added to the catalog of tragic events that nite . It was heat breaking to see Gerald in that condition, king in my opinion has not done enough for the man he has plundered the pro boxing game for decades , when he should stand up and take responcerbilty .he has fell way short of the mark , benn was never one of my heros but seems to have struggled coming to terms with the outcome his meeting with Gerald was in its self tragic . Two warriors both have been scared for life

It was a good program but that interview with Benn was 4 years ago...nothing new came from the program and all it really did for me is emphasise the huge difference between those 2 men and their backgrounds.......Mclellen was from the gutter, the people around him were from the gutter.....he was a fantastic fighter but had no class about him whatsoever....whereas Benn,s entire career was utterly professional in every way,i remember watching Nigel in West Ham boxing club just before he turned pro with Burt Macarthy,it was like watching Tom Jones sing a song or Pele play football....you just knew you was watching somebody special....he was such a natural fighter and phenomenal athlete.....apart from the obvious sorrow you feel for Mcllellen ive always felt for Benn purely from a sporting point of view.........he was robbed of the glory for what was one of the all time great performances from a British fighter.

As regards would it have been stopped today no i dont think it would......its easy to be wise after the event, the blinking, twitching etc etc....theres any number of manerism,s a fighter shows during battle you cant stop a fight because a mans blinking too much....sadly these things happen in boxing......i was like everyone else at the time jumping around saying the yank had quit and Benn had outgamed him.......little did we know we was watching true unquestionable gameness of which theres no coming back from.....very sad night.

When Benn walked into the ring anyone spot who was to his right-hand side?Tony Tucker, one of the guys murdered during the Rottendon Range-Rover shooting.

He used to bring him out in all his fights....Tucker one side and Leach ( being a leech ) on the other......

Tucker only did it for the fame/notoriety factor......he was a millionaire businessman he didnt need the 50 quid a night for minding a boxer on a ringwalk :D
