moonlighter 1,164
Yea but there no cheaper to run than a heat lamp so IMO there is no point using one. Once you use heat lamps you'll never use anything else. I got mine of the net for about £15/20 each.

superfurryanimal 91
never heard such nonsense ! as long as they're draught free fed well and got dry bedding dogs will be fine !
chilly 59
is it really such a hardship tho to fork out 20 quid for a little heater and plug it in ?, give them a little bit more comfort thro the winter months , when you are asking them to give their all in the field think its the least you can do my self
TOMO 26,823
i treid a tube heater a few year back,,,, i took it back to argos,,,, theres more heat in a fart,,, you need to nearly touch them to feel any warmth,,, waste of money. on the flip side you can still feel the heat from a heat lamp 2-3 foot away from it.... one other thing gents,,,, dry the dogs off befor putting them to bed,,, it only takes a miniut or so,, far better for them
Moll. 1,770
Would a ceramic heat bulb not be better, so the dogs are not in constant light, plus they seem much more sturdy than glass ones
chilly 59
what wattage lamps do you lot use , my heat lamp came today 175w infra-red , and that doesnt seem to put out much heat either got it just under a meter over the dog bed ive put under it and i cant say there much heat reaching where the dogs would be laying , think they have gone back in the sleeping box any way lol for it to feel warm it would have to be prity close i think

buster gonads 862
Fitted a 60 watt tube heater in the kennel run through a frost stat so it turns itself on/off as and when, the last couple of days theres been a good frost and the dog was still asleep when i went to get him in the morning, previous to me fitting the heater he was up and about whineing if it was freezing, his water hasnt frozzen since either.
