obi2 239
How do the guys that work all day get there birds out and fit during the winter with the dark nights? Atb Quote Link to post
jasper65 6
Good question.. Can't see how anyone can get them proper fit unless they are flying them hard virtually everyday, working 5 days a week would make it virtually impossible. I would think some shft work would help if working nights and not getting much sleep during the day.......... Quote Link to post
bunny blaster 0
i have known people fly there hawks up the stairs for fittness Quote Link to post
Millet 4,497
I did it once but i quickly found out that a feamale harris is a bit big for that.. ..even if it was a big stair case it's not the same as getting a bird fit from daily hunting..in my eye's they is no substitute to getting a hawk fit from hunting. obi2 239
Do many people take them a walk when walking the dogs at night and let them follow? Hope this doesn't sound stupid as I'm curious. Quote Link to post
Millet 4,497
It does sound like a stupid question.. ..unless you can get a little head lamp for the hawk how will it see where it is going. Quote Link to post
banjo14 49
i lamp my harris when i cant get out in the day. Quote Link to post
obi2 239
I mean like road walkin at night and letting them fly from lamp post to roof and stuff. I heard of someone doing this before hence the reason I asked. Quote Link to post
obi2 239
How do you find lamping with the Harris banjo? Quote Link to post

jasper65 6
i have known people fly there hawks up the stairs for fittness Yep a cracking idea with a small hawk like a Spar which I have done myself but none get proper fit like chaseing quarry or being worked hard in the field.... Birds get fit chaseing quarry and we get fit trying to keep up with them ............ Quote Link to post
banjo14 49
How do you find lamping with the Harris banjo? she catches a lot easier on the lamp. she always flys to the right of the beam and swings in at the last moment, i used to tape the bell so the bunnys couldnt hear her coming but i prefer a bit of a chase rather than her landing on a squatter. still dosent beat bolted rabbit though. obi2 239
I think lamping would be good fun aswell. Where I am there's rabbits that sit far out but are really lamp shy so when it clicks on there off providing some good chases. Quote Link to post
