BEDLINGTON WHIPPETS

Recommended Posts

our first x was beddy dog over whip bitch, the lads who we got her off worked the beddy in a variety of ways. They're not on here unfortunately as they had some interesting tales, they were next door neighbours and their houses were shrines to hunting , we spent longer than aticapated picking her up once we started yapping. I've been offered out with them but not made it yet.

when talking about lamp, do you mean things with teeth? and does dog over bitch which may matter? as in which breed as dam or sire etc.

pre ban they done red coats single handed and doubled up. i think dog over bitch does matter imo. but thats another debate.

the one beddy/whippet is the blue dog in the pic

I have a first x, just 18 1/4" can catch in day but needs a short run up, better on rabbits that slip nets ferreting as they are not quite with it going away from home. ok on lamp you can bounce them off the dykes. For a small dog is fairly fast but lacks that bit of zip . I would go for 3/4 bred for lamping or daytime catch dog or better still a greyhound cross. In my opinion a beddy/whippet first cross is better as a ferreting and hunting up dog, as what mine is mainly for.

From what I've seen I would agree the 3/4 suits the lamping more than the first x, she has that extra bit of speed, although the first x will hit any cover and catches because of this, she's got that never give up attitude

Mine is the same will hit cover flat out, catches a lot at the dyke lamping just hits the dyke and pulls them out. I would say she has a excellent nose and although only 17 months i trust her marking 100%.
