bone men

Recommended Posts

Firstly, good post Snoop.

'Ol Ken does get a bit of stick these days and i'd be the first to agree with Snoop on his speed and the way he does things BUT i've seen the man do so much good for lurcher lads and a local (Ken's mine) bone man is worth his weight in gold.

Whenever i've taken dogs to Ken, i've had a fair idea of the problem and let him know to be specific to that area, general stuff too, short striding, poor turning to one side, let the man know and thats what he'll go over. It's never been the case with me to turn up and say 'there you go', at the very least after a hard season, for a general MOT, i'll give him sommat to work on.

The simple fact is, that over the years, i've seen dogs running with all sorts of problems, problems their owners are either not even aware of, or think the'll be right by next week! And thats why i'll always recommend Ken (like I said, 'my' local) or any bone man, because if the information is not given out, what becomes of these dogs, where do there owners go?

Years ago someone recommended a Boneman to me, saved me both flustration and heartache and my mutts a whole heap of pain, for that i'm forever grateful...

A good one one is worth there weight in gold ...there must be loads of lads out there .who run dogs and dont use them ...somtimes looking at there dogs and wondering why it isnt running right i.e. ca

i may have sounded a bit harsh on ken ..hes a nice enough geezer .he sorted my dog out .a couple of seasons ago .and it ran a hell of alot better once he had done his stuff....i couldnt see the proble

the one i see is in the north east ..a good couple of hours from me.. but i would drive 10 hours to see this man...hes a busy man and dosent see just anybody ..and i wont put his name on here ...but i

i may have sounded a bit harsh on ken ..hes a nice enough geezer .he sorted my dog out .a couple of seasons ago .and it ran a hell of alot better once he had done his stuff....i couldnt see the problem in my dog ..he just wasnt performing how he normally did..no lamness no nothing ..ken found the problem...BUT ..hes far to hasty for me...and to be totally honest ...he isnt a patch on the man i see now..thats not to say ken isnt good ...he just aint as good as this other chap..

to watch this fellow who i use now...is brilliant ..hes just has a way with mutts that is dam good to watch..and he checks every joint muscle nook and crany on the dog..he gives good advice .and if you follow his advice ..you will see changes in your dog by the day.... ..if people who run dogs regular find themselves a good honest boneman ..they could be well supprised of what they could learn and how much of a differnce they can make when your dog aint right....never mind the money they could save from going to a vets...and pumping them full of pills they dont even need....

Is that Ken from leigh who used to do the dogs at westhoughton track ?

If so would personaly never use him again, after experancing how it should be done - i wouldnt even entertain him touching

one of my dogs again - he's cheap granted - but he lacks in how he treats and handles dogs, he is to ruff with them

and im suprised he's still going, after all he's no qualifcations,

i took my old dog to him once - he didnt even check her over proper, cracked her neck and back and that was it.

Have used meek couple of times before - he's good at finding out whats wrong with the dog,

but treatment side he lacks, he's cheap and he does spend more time with the dog,

i took my deerhound to see him a while back, he did find out what was wrong with her - but then went on to say

nothing could be done - my deerhound has a tfl and stomach tear.

Recently i took her to see someone else, who does McTimoney, she also does massage and streching and was giving a course on how to do it,

although a lot more expencive it was worth every penny, she was given a full check over, treatment and i was given full instructions

on how to treat her at home, since having the treatment and me doing it at home she's bouncing off the walls, eating a hell of a lot better

and seems much better in herself - i wish id of gone to see her when the problem first started, would have save my dog lots of constant lameness.

Im from the lancashire area about 4 yrs ago i went on holiday and left my dogs with my mum to look after them when i came back my best dog was lame i thought it would clear up but after two weeks it was still the same,i took him to my local vet then clicker ken, paul evans at oldham and a guy called paul in leyland and none of them could sort out this lameness after 2 yrs of trying to get a answer of what the problem was i kinda jst gave up and used the dog as and when the lameness wasnt to bad.I was gutted but i had ran out of ideas of what to do.Anyway this yr i got mysel a pup and unfortuantly the pup got injured and i was recommended to go see a v good greyhound vet called katrina shaw who inturn recommended a bone man called dave gutteridge from the blackburn area cut a long story short i took my old dog down with me at the same time as taking the pup and he sort them both out i just wished i knew of him all those yrs ago [bANNED TEXT] my old dog first got injured.Im not slagging the other guys off they were nice people but mr gutteridge just seemed in a different league regarding knowledge and handling of my dogs.

hard to find anyone to learn from... shame there isnt any courses you can go on to learn that sort of thing...if anybody knows of any or can get links up

McTimony Msc Animal Manipulation this would be very time consuming and only be relevant to someone looking to follow a career in this area. My experience of McTimony treatment on both myself and the dogs is that although it is a useful base, it does not address muscular issues in sufficient depth.

The lurcher in my avatar had got in a bad way a few years back, and was clearly in a lot of pain. She was getting on a bit, and I was halfway expecting that it might end up being kindest to pts. I took her to see George Drake near Peterborough as a last resort, and the dog was back catching bunnies the next day :toast: fantastic result. I got the impression George did not have formal training. I imagine someone else on here will know more about him - judging by the length of the queue at the door, he is successful at treating both greyhounds and lurchers.

Took my bitch to a "bone man" essex area last week, got 10 maybe 12 click and cracks out of her.

Funny thing was she is normaly very shy and not keen on beeing handled, yet she just let it all go on.

After just a day she was belting around the garden like a puppy,

took her out tonight,,, she was like a diffrent dog! (she still needs to be fitter,, but thats my fault)

she will be be booked in regulaly and i feel a bit of a "fool" for not doing it sooner!

used a lad in essex myself and like you should of done it sooner, think a dog knows when its being handled confidently by someone that knows what they doing and seem to go with the flow so to speak, few snaps and cracks bit of stretching her out and to say the difference the next day was suprising would be an understatement,4 year old bitch bouncing like a puppy,a good bloke that done me a right favour ;) Edited by long-tail
