Dawn B 212
Hi Frank. Speaking only from my experience, I had a bitch taken out of season with "Stilbeostrol" the season fizzled out within a few days, you cant use it till the bitch starts. My bitch had no side effects from this one time. its not somethning I would recommend on a regular basis. Dawn.

tote 854
If I was in your position Frank I'd let the bitch have her season, especially if it's her first. There are a few jabs you can get to stop a bitch coming into season, the one I use is called Laura Bollin,it's a monthly jab.I only use it on greyhound bitches as they are usually off for 3 months when they come into season. I've used Laura Bollin for years and never had any side affects in the bitches.
Guest Frank
Cheers Tote. Will keep that one in mind. Frank.
wren 8
We have used one called Durateston for years without any side effects on the lurchers and greyhounds. They must have a first season though. Pet dog vets dont agree with doing this, generally, so find a greyhound vet. The bitches are jabbed every 28 days which can be a nuisance.Jeff S's vet gave his bitch the pet jab called Delvesteron, which I wont use, and my greyhound vet reckons can have side effects. including increase in fatty tissue, not what you want in a running dog. If you can manage without its probably the better way to go but if not there are decent products out there
Ossie 11
a couple of friends of mine went to ibiza a few years ago, and took their crossbred bitch with them. obviously didn't want her getting knocked up by the local mutts, so they had her jabbed by the vet. it was supposed to stop her having 1 season, but in the end it took a year anda a half to wear off. Is their a jab out their that the vet could give her, so she wont come into heat? Thanks, Frank. there is a jab to stop your bitches season it costs about 20 quid and puts off the bitches season. only worth getting if she is in contact with dogs or you want to put it off untill your ready to breed but other wise let her have her season but you got to catch her in time i have used it on my bitch it only lasts one season so you will be safe if you want to breed her next season Edited April 7, 2007 by scottish lurcher
