jasper65 6
Its been a 25 years since the Argies took a pasteing for stomping on UK soil , but whats the opinion these days if the Argies wanted to have another go, should we abandon the isles due to the fact its more than 8000 Miles from here or would you agree we go to War again? I know its the Princible of the matter if they ever Invaded again they should get their arse kicked but do we really need these tiny islands? after seeing the news the Argies certainly would still relish trying to hoist the Argentinian flag up on there again.... It seem that one day they'll perhaps have another go but could all this be averted if we just say f**k it and let them have it? to be Honest I'm sitting on the fence as one side of me is saying why the f**k should they have it and the other side of the coin is do we want anyone from the UK to lose their life again for a tiny Island thousands of miles away..... nelson 0
Them on those islands are British, the land is British Sovereign territory and as such deserve British protection, thats the end of the matter as far as i am concerned.
Guest Ditch_Shitter
I may well find the twists and turns of this particular Thread quite interesting (amusing) actually. See, because while ye all bang on about 'Sovereignty', wars and so forth; I am, and have been, a card carrying, Direct Debit paying, full member of FALKLANDS CONSERVATION for years now! I couldn't give a toss who 'Owns it'. As long as They look after it! Still; 'Talk is cheap'. Carry on
david2363 42
A lad I knew was killed over there (he was only about 19). Was it worth it? who knows. I'm all for standing up for our territory etc but when you look at it geographically, think about the Argies laying claim to the Isle of Man..............
thurso jack 3
i think the fact they think the place is full of oil, means we wont hand it over without a fight?
Guest The Shaman
Theres probably lots of reasons why Britain is so adamant about keeping the Falklands (and South Georgia). We took control and have settled it, and the islanders consider themselves British, but the island itself isn't that remarkable. However what is not mentioned is the fact that at some point we shall be looking for oil there, we have fishing rights etc etc which means more to the greedy goverment than the feelings of a few islanders, most of whom have never been to Britain. I wouldn't mind one bit if britain decided to re-locate the islanders back home, and give the islands back as a goodwill gesture. But since when did the government listen to reason. Stabs 3
However what is not mentioned is the fact that at some point we shall be looking for oil there There's been oil speculators there for years. I remember one big company that had penny shares that a lot of people got interested in. They folded when they found neglible amounts.

Irish Lurcher 1,013
Gents I totally disagree with your comments, using words like “getting their ass kicked†when so many lives were lost is disrespectful. How many times the brits have get their ass kicked in N.Ireland, don’t hear us shouting about it. There are no winners in war, JUST VICTIMS.

OldTrapCollector 377
There is absolutely no way that we could even begin to fight another conflict like the Falklands 1982, we simply do not have sufficent ships, men or firepower to do it anymore. The British Royal Navy and Royal Marines have been victim of cut after cut of Defence Budget spending to a point where the 'company' is virtually bankrupt. The 'Malvinas' was quite possibly the last true maritime based war that will ever be fought in conventional terms, certainly by British Forces. OTC
