There is an old saying that says. "It is better to keep your Mouth shut and let people think you are an idiot, than to open your Mouth and confirm it"

just read the post & the replies, so i'll have a crack at clearing this one up... (don't eat me for this! )

Can't believe what i just read!ever heard of single handed workers.3 :censored: dogs to ground!!!!!!!!

doesn't say anywhere that 3 dogs were to ground. russells found the fox, 2 dogs went in on that particular dig, and Bizz has a new young'n who is taken along to other digs. probably to observe & get used to the sights & smells.

:icon_eek::icon_eek: Im not quite sure if I understand your post? Im pleased your patterdale appears to be working well  , but was there two to ground :cry: ? That might not be the best approach to use  .

as i read it, the second, more experienced dog went in to give the inexperienced new one a hand & to make sure things didn't get messy. and the russells where there to find & mark charlie.

please don't eat me. just clarifying, from what i read. might be horribly wrong, might not be. make what you will.

Well I just read about someone having three dogs to ground................ :(

If the lad who posted is young & inexperienced then despite the fact that he has done wrong I can sort of understand ................ Hopefully he will take some advise & never use more than one dog at a time.......for a few reasons............1. Its f*****g dangerous for the dogs 2. If he's serious about earth work 2ing & 3ing terriers up will only lead to inferior dogs & possibly ruin potentially good workers............

On the other hand if he is someone who has had dogs a while then to do what he did & then come on here a post about it just shows hes a f*****g idiot..................

read it properly and theres nothing inferior about our dogs they all do there job and do it well if there on there own or doubled up

surely your terrier will start relying on other dogs in the hole its no way to bring a dog on that mate

round here its all scraped out rabbit holes hardly enough room for one dog never mind two

you brought the dog on to go to ground dont ruin it by sending him in with another dog when you get a smaller den to work what you gonna do ??

bizz 122-What the lads are saying in their own sweet way is -ONLY ONE DOG TO GROUND YOU NOB! . .The youngster/inexsperienced terrier will learn more from single handed encounters than a lifetime of doubling up .Stronger quarry would have made you pay the price I feel .You will never know the strengths of individuals in a situation like yours and therefore will nearly always need to double up to get anywhere .If the pat' will work single handed then let it be the first of many for you .Good luck .

yes mate only on big earths though never had any probs at all just have to make sure your terriers get on together just if there is 2 in and they are both on in different places you have to dig twice witch we have done a few times some people dont agree but thats up to them everyone has there own ways
