Pup not intrested

Recommended Posts

Was out flushing foxes to the gun at the weekend with th terriers and lurchers. I had my 7 mnth old dog with me bit was showing no signs of interest in anything. The other dogs were in and out the gorsh working great flushing rabbits, deer, hares so there was plenty going on. Also found an earth that was stinking of fox but to late on for a dig and still no intrest from him. I know he's still young but I'm a bit worried about his lack of intrest. It wasn't his first time out either as he's been to the rats and has been out flushing before but always sticks to my side and doesn't want to hunt on.

Unfortunately I have the same outlook slips, I think it should at least be showing intrest in blatant scents even at this age but I am going to give it plenty of time as I hope one day it will just click into place.

dont expect much from a dog that age! his mind has lots of other things flying throught it. The barking the people shouting all the new smells ect give him time mate. like already said show him some rats half grown, build his confidence let him see and here eveything he will change if he has the x factor. come back on in 6 months time and let us no.

7 months is only a baby, I wouldn't be worried about him mate.leave him till he's

14 or 15 months

Well said DEV, and as for the earth "stinking of fox" most of the time, the dog knows best........Most of the lads on here can tell you of occasions before the ban, when you looked at earths and thought it just had to be holding but a good honest finder/marker has said no.

Trust your dog until it proves otherwise
