The Duncan 802
Wouldn't risk my dogs in a fight with a boar, prefer getting a .308. typical rifle man no sport in shooting game imo its alot better and enjoyable seeing a dog you brought on as a pup to do the job in hand jmo Nothing to do with sport - I'm happy to send my dog (s) after quarry that is unlikely to damage them. I guess you and I just have different values. BTW, no longer just a rifleman and shotgunner, becoming a dogman now too. There is a place for both IMO. Cheers Duncan. Link to post

chartpolski 24,575
Never actualy heard of any dogs KILING a wild boar; they usualy hold it or bail it until the hunter administers the coupe de grace ! Cheers. Link to post

Zerky 133
Three wild boar where shot on Sunday in a place where they had never been seen before witch I think is sad would like to see more of them. One was shot in the day where the shooter had a close call and the other two where shot in the evening. (Ideation pm may be of interest to you.) Link to post
SON OFF SHAM 34
dogs on hogs a great dvd to get see the real power of them hogs ..chuck a good dog around like a 2p piece Aye and a bunch off brainless yahoos running around with 8" knives, stabbing hogs while the pitts holding them. theres wiser locked up. anti alert To begin with I'm far from what you just stated. If you knew me personnally you wouldnt have had the balls to say that only on a computer as I would bring you on much pain fella. Have you seen the DVD in question? I think not, well I have it, and though most off it is entertaining and the hounds work well keeping the pigs at bay till the big dogs are brought along with there chest plates to hold the hogs while the lads cut the testicales off them and then release, that's for reasons I don't think you would have the brain to understand so I won't explain it. Point is at one stage there is a big dog on a hog in a swamp and some halfwit jumps up to his chest in the water and starts swinging a knife like someone not fking wise. Not only does he nearly stabb himself and the dog but he does a pathetic job to even wound the hog while near drowning himself in the proceeds. If you don't think that's stupid then it shows me the kind off f@ckbag you are. 1 Link to post
craigyboy 1,274
you cant base anything off a few dvds, unless youve actually hunted wild boar with dogs then how can you say its not possible i dont think anyone is saying that the dog can kill the wild boar but im telling you, a couple of good bullxs wi breast plates and your eating wild boar it can be done without the plates but then you either have to be lucky or stupid Link to post
stevebro 7
I dont know where to start.........not many of u have any idea about Pig hunting.........one dog can catch a pig this is how we here in NZ judge a good dog if it cant catch on its own its only a mutt. A good dog can fetch up $3000 or more but not many are what they say the are!! Dogs can kill a boar and it dont take to long either if there holdin it under the armpit. in Nz hardly anyone uses breast plates and armour because there to hot for running dogs and its normally 1 hole that kills a dog.....1 in the head, 1 in the spine, or 1 in a vein and the dog bleeds out. After u grab a boar by its back legs n flip in on its back it like a turtle.....helpless, like those of you who say "YOU CANT .........." ps. those dvds only show one mans style and every hunter has his own style of hunting. 6 Link to post
