pigs in uk

Recommended Posts

hi, just wondering what are the laws on hunting wild pig/boars in the UK ? i heard they might need a cull in the forest of dean. it would be nice to see a few strong dogs on pigs!! but in this day of age your dog can,t shit in the woods without the owner running behind it with a pooper scooper or face being fined !!!

I dont know where to start.........not many of u have any idea about Pig hunting.........one dog can catch a pig this is how we here in NZ judge a good dog if it cant catch on its own its only a mutt.

kev you aint got a good dog for them then weve had plenty some inthe freezer now may have another before xmas

typical rifle man no sport in shooting game imo its alot better and enjoyable seeing a dog you brought on as a pup to do the job in hand jmo

As said, loads of them about, but they get culled to f**k by the gun boys.

The right dog could do one, but i think it would take a fecking beast of a dog to handle a full grown adult boar a lone and un-armoured. By far a harder job than a big stag.

A few dogs would be wiser, unless you had heavy specialist dogs.

This one (outside of UK) was hunted by pack of hounds & left its mark on a few, have a stapler would be my advice.

thats what i was thinking would take some juk to put one of them down single handed i recon ,ive heard about using terriers on them they just run them and run them till they tired em out them because of the size the pigs cant get to them and sit down to stop them getting there legs bit then they send bull x in or finish em with gun blade etc ..... not sure how true that is but sounds half good way to do it ,stop your whippet x getting killed lol

An alternative to a catch and hold dog, is a baying / bailing dog. A collie or hound type is ideal, then get in and shoot / stick em.
