much cheeper to make your own £235 for 100 system might be a reasonable price if your wipeing your arse on fivers but you will be able to buy the net alone for £50 delivered or less (4z) depending where your shoping and we all have a friend who can weld, that leaves poles and gromits to source and im sure if you go back through the longnet section they will be plenty info to help. i would be amazed if you cant save £100 at least..

Not being funny Smithie but have you ever seen Masterhunters System? his basket system is completely different to anyone elses on the market once you've seen/tried his gear you'll realise he's obviously an experienced user that thinks about what is REALLY needed

i agree with you leeview, it is a nice design of basket, a really well thought out method. However have you seen the prices he charges??? £5 for a pole and £25 for a kilo of 2/3mm braided nylon, i know what else he thinks is really needed...........profit.

Scramble

OK he's not a charity so your paying for his experience  and consider that a small price to pay for his knowlege

the poles are golf club handles extremely strong(think of the exertion imparted on the downwards swing to strike a golf ball) if you dont want to pay that much Im sure you could source them from a car boot sale and doctor them yourself

First off, there is nothing wrong with making a profit. If you chose to premium price you products well thats up to you. You know when you price your product that you are alianating a vast majority of possible buyers. All it means in real terms is that you do less work for the same money. That said, his price for a sheet of 6z 4.25" mesh with lines is pretty competative. Although the lines are polypropylene and they are rubbish I will not use them on my nets. We buy our lines from the same place and I know that they tried to sell me polypropylene lines as that is 'what all the people who make rabbiting nets use' because they are cheaper than braided nylon. Sorry, but not this one, I will only use braided nylon, it does not ravel or pluck as the looser weave of the polypropelene does.

As to the claim that his nets are superior to anyone elses, Sorry but that just does not stand up. His nets are no better or worse than most other sellers of nets I cannot comment about his baskets as I have never seen one, but, they do look very fit for purpose

What I do not like is the claim that "he" invented the basket system. How many other people have claimed the bragging rights to what has been used in the fishing industry for donkeys years? He claims that he invented it 20 years ago! Well I was using a net out of a basket when I started fishing 35 years ago and it had been used for god knows how many generations before that. All the basket system is, is an adaptation of the fishing basket.

Everyone seems to claim they have invented the quickset system, the start of this system was apparent donkeys yrs ago,I remember my grandad with a net strung between, two old steming poles from the pit, for gate netting hares,he never claimed to have invented it,people seem to be doing this to sell there product, the thing is I think the profit thing has gone a bit far,and is stifling the most important people in the sport thats the youngsters, where the future of the sport lies, so if the nets good value, people will buy it and in an open internet market people vote with there feet,

If you look at the even older quick set method, you used to string the net up, after bringing it in and with a peice of string top and bottom of the poles carry it over the shoulder,no basket to carry, these I find easyier to put out with a bit of practice.espeicially in a field thats got good grass with no shit from the hedges down,

Tiercel no where did I claim his nets were superior? My opinions were on his quickset system overall being well thought out and in your words "fit for purpose" which I agree with

Apologies Leeview I did not mean it to sound as if you had stated that his nets were superior. I was talking in general as I have seen it stated on here that is nets are the best. That is why they are priced as they are.

Once again my apologies.
