A couple of rabbits and a night time recce

Just went for a mooch and a recce tonight with the HW100 S and lamp to see what was on the new permission.

 

The Ultra is away getting regged so i had to take the heavy rifle which wasnt so much fun as i was carting everything about and a heavy battery too.

 

Happy to see there are still quite a few about and are not lamp shy though.

 

I shot these on a white light.

good going i went out last night and missed 3 shots saw the pellet miss down the beam. first time i blanked in months. not so easy in the dark.

nice one mate,

i would deff consider a lightweight cylinder from marksman if you will be doing more night time shooting with the hw100, makes a big diff to weight and shot count mate.

Yeah shooting in the dark is pretty tricky and misses are inevitable.

 

I missed another 2 due to either wobbling from the standing position or bad windage estimation as there was a slight breeze.

 

These all were shot though at medium range between 15 and 25 metres with the 25 metre one off the Deben bipod so it wasn’t really a problem for me and they all were cleanly shot.

 

The other 2 were shot from the standing unsupported position which I’m not very comfortable with so kept the range as close as possible to keep it fair for the rabbits.

 

Funny you mentioned that Chris, I was only emailing Davy yesterday about a couple of improvements for the HW100 S.

 

I’ve seen a lovely CS700 skeleton thumbhole stock

which I think would make the rifle a slight bit lighter and easier to gain better accuracy from when shooting it at HFT.

 

I also fancy a light weight cylinder from Darryl or Addie which should altogether knock 2 or 3 pounds in weight of the rifle. Will also make it look very nice.

 

Just got to save up though and Christmas is not the right time to save up is it? LOL.

man up and get a sling less weight then! no need to lump it around the field!

the CS700 looks nice though,if you need a cylinder I sell them too! both Daryl and I sell them.

well done mate ,went lamping myself last night because its been quiet in the day plenty out but didnt get one ,the bloody wind turned gale force ,and changed every 2 seconds but enjoyed it all the same atb .

Got a leather sling for her buddy but forgot to fit it.

 

I need you to pop up when you get time buddy and film with me.

 

I'll film and hold the IR lamp for you. I want to try the new 3 million candle power IR lamp ive just got and showed you last week and you shoot if you dont mind mate. I think it could be day time at night

 

It could be a good session for the mystery rifle.

 

I have plenty of bunnies to go at as i realised last night .

its not mine!

tom had a problem with his MK4 so i fixed it today for him! grouping nicely now!

yes i am up for a visit to shoot some bunny's and bring the mystery rifle with me! i haven't had time to use it yet but plan to use it in a few days?

 

my new HW97KT is performing well,and to be fair if it beds in as well as its shooting now ,i feel a 11 shot challenge coming off

that's how confidante i am with it! nice spring rifle to shoot!

i nearly chose the skelly stock too but changed my mind at the last minute?

if you do decide to get one si take youre action through with you when you pick it up cos the wood moves with the room temp making it a tight fit, they had to make some sanding tweaks to mine to make it right!

I'm positive the paddock is being poached now, went there the other night when staying at Lesley's.

Didn't have the gun, just a torch, switched on and everything gave it legs again! Even the ones at the other side of the paddock.

funnily enough, the stock on my recently revived rapid(say that when youre smashed) is a skele cs700. theyre really nice stocks mate. if youre planning on flogging the sporter stock then gimme a nod, cos i'd be interested in one for the hw100kt(ifn the longer stock fits that is, might be a bit stutzen-ish)
