Any plummers on here?

Recommended Posts

I've just gone and hammered a f'cking nail through the heating pipe trying to fix a squeaky floor board......seriously pissed off with myself!!

Anyway, what's the best way of fixing it without getting a plummer in? I've turned the mains water off and drained the radiators so it's not leaking at the moment. It's a small hole in the centre of the pipe under the upstair floor board.

You can get a pipe repair kit can't you? Which ones are the best ones?? is it OK to just repair it with that or wouldn't that be good enough for a heating pipe?

any for all those that will inevitably take the piss..............f**k OFF!!!! :tongue2::laugh:

Just get it done right. Simple cut out and join put in. Do a half job and it will f**k up and it'll end up costing you more 'in' the long run.

Hi mate I,m a Plumber by trade. You can use plastic push fit fittings and a peice of copper to fix, just make sure the old and new pipes you cut dont have any burrs or sharp edges on them that will cut the o-ring inside the fitting.

And when the fittings are in place make sure they are pushed fully home and some have to be turned on the end to lock them in place.

Forgot to add only use plastic if 1m away from the boiler if closer then has to be copper.

And as post below if you use compression joints use ptfe tape on them and dont over tighten.

If you were closer I would have come over and fixed it as its not a big job, you have done the worst bit by draining it all down.

Leave it open for a while after you have fixed it to keep on checking it to make sure it holds when heating on and then heating off as the pipe expands when hot and shrinks when cold.
