All is it is a bit of manners lad.

Put on or not - farmer didn't know you were there and didn't know you. You never made any attempt to sort that beforehand.

Does your mammy know how she raised you?

It's bad form - end of.

why you trying to mess up the lads thread? i take it you have never entered land unless you have had the land owners permission? irish lurcher sounds like a decent lad, i'm sure he doesn't go around leaving gates open, running cattle and braking fencing ect.

Place is full of them jf1970,, But for the benefit of the looney I shall explaine.

Ok then if you feel that upset about my night’s lamping I shall enlighten you on the facts.

But…had you bothered to read my post correctly you would have ascertained that I was put onto the land by a friend and the farmer was expecting us, hence the reason we meet him in the field and the fact we gave him rabbits. Now I suggest that going forward you get an adult to read the thread first and explain it to you to avoid you making a c**t of yourself again.

Your talking shite if you were serious about lamping and wanted to get out as much as you can with ruining good lamping spots depending on only places were you have permission who would hardly ever get out ,most lads out lamping dont cause any harm but you must think different Mr perfect

I'm from a farming community - not a farmer myself mind, but all of my neighbours are.

A large part of my youth involved labouring with these neighbours and I spent a lot of time on their land on horses both with and without dogs.

Perhaps it's through close contact with them and the clubs that use their land but I'm critically aware of how farmers feel about having people they don't know on their ground - and even moreso, people who've made no effort whatsoever to introduce themselves before entering said ground.

Most farmers are solid country folk - they've no proplem with any form of gamesport. They're decent folk and deserve to be treated as such and it's a simple matter of having just the tiniest semblance of decency to introduce yourself to a landowner before entering their property.

Their ground is their backyard - how would you feel about finding some randomer running around in yours?

As for trying to mess up their thread - all I did was call a duck a duck. Actions like that throw a caste on the whole gaming community who rely on farmers good graces to enjoy their sport - and god knows we've enough haters without adding people we could otherwise get along quite symbiotically with to the list.

The lad got lucky this time, because he met a decent lad in a decent mood - but this story could be very different if the farmer had taken proper exception to the lack of any effort to extent the courtesy of an introduction beforehand.

Right - it would appear to come down to this.

Harm done, or no harm done I do not see the need for trespass. I have more respect for the landowners than to do it.

I guess you'll all just have to pardon me for having that little bit of integrity.

It's clearly entirely absent among most on this thread.

Lol

This gets better, you have not read my post, that explains alot, so I will spell it out for you, a freind of mine has premission on the said land and gave me an invite to lamp it, the farmer was made aware that we may or my not be on the land on the said night, you would be best served to stop digging the hole now,,lol,, you really need to get a life.

Most of the lads on this site would have the utmost respect for farmers and would never give cause of concern to the farmer, so next you decide to judge any other members on here I suggest you get to know them first.

Tell ya what why dont ya come on up to Dublin and I wil show ya the bright lights,,

Still a few dog lads with integrity and respect but unfortunately a few without,

thing is we,re all painted as No gooders and unfortunately alot of the decent lads get treated the same as the folks with no respect

hence the backlash you recieved in respect of your original post, seems to me even the decent people are sick of hearing about the rights and the wrongs, what you should/shouldn,t be doing blah blah blah

maybe you,ll be forgiven though seeing you,re a newbie, atb and Happy Hunting

I work in Trinity College, have done for the last 7 years - come on over anytime you fancy a chat smartass. :bye:

And I did read your post - but your original post reads that although you were put onto the land, the farmer wasn't expecting you on the land and didn't know you from Adam. That's what I was taking exception too.

@ KittleRox - Appreciate the effort at engaging in actual discussion rather than ridicule, and I can understand the point - but it's a chicken and egg situation and without common courtesy there's little way to differentiate between the demographics you layed out.

As far as forgiving me goes, lets just leave that both sides of this particular fence appear to have mutual levels of regard for each others opinion.

On a closing note - new to THL does not mean new to country life, and the "dub" in the corner there would do well to recognise that - I'm afraid he'll just have to pardon a simple culchie his "naivety".

You put forward a decent argument on your behalf, but it was not really necessary , had you just read my post you could have saved time and energy.

But each to their own I guess. We have an old saying where I came from, always best to test the water before you jump in... Common sense is not so common after all. I bid you good will and keep up the country side watch...
