jultaylor1972 2
I knew it wouldnt take Joe long to end that one - Manfredo looked scared shitless! Khan was pretty impressive though - he's gonna have one hell of a carrear!! Too true.
Tommy 9
One of the worst put together boxing bills i've seen in a long while Enzo Macrinelli fair enough banged the other lad ..........but he wasnt going to give him a fight anyway, its about time he fought somone who's going to be hitting back.........dont forget Enzo has been KO'd and been put down by a few bums maybe he can HIT but against a good boxer he will also get hit back .....will he be able to take it ?? Khan .......well what did you expect He'll have a few more fights like that (against NOBODIES) before we even see him fighting someone who wants to fight back Enough said about him Calzaghe......difficult one this. That referee Terry O'connor in my opinion is proper useless, he reffered a fight between Michael Sprott and Danny Williams called one fighter to break and Williams knocked Sprott out on the break not a GREAT REF BUT ....what could he have done in that situation ?? Calzaghe was throughing shots (some hitting some missing) but he was throwing, if the ref split them up he would be inflicting Calzaghes work so he lets him keep throwing .....Manfredo NEVER threw a punch back AFTER been caught in the body and Head combo......if he's not throwing punches while been hit then he needs to be stopped !!! If as Manfredo says he wasnt hurt WHY not thow shots back then ?? Not the best fight for Calzaghe but hopefully he can a get a GOOD UN in the future All the best Tommy

jasper65 6
khan will have untill he fights someone any good but warren wont let that please remember nasim (barrera) Too true , for some reason we groom our up and coming fighters on Nobodies or has beens far to long! they do their best to con and brain wash the British public what a class act they are by showing us all these demolishions in less than 4 rounds, even the papers rave on about this stuff to brian wash us even more! then the big crunch comes when these carefully groomed fighters are stuck in the ring with someone decent and its all over.... Its happend for years! I can rememeber all the hype about Frank Bruno and watching him KO nobodies within 3 rounds, then came the acid test when he fought Tim Witherspoon here in the uk! The papers even labled him Flabby Blabberspoon as he was as good as a true stone over weight, The inevitable happend with the out of condition Witherspoon battering frank into the ropes and the fight was stopped, he was outclassed by a has been because Frank had never really been groomed beyond 3 rounds and run clean out of ideas, I can see Khan going the same way! he's abit cocky and someone's going to bring straight back down to earth with a bang..... whin 463
watched the calazaghe fight a bit one sided, it should have gone a another 10 seconds, if the guy was still not throwing then end of story i dont think calazagha was hitting him with bombs to really hurt him , but it was one sided ,the benn mclellan fight both were hitting with great power they were bombs diffrent styles ,

Guest Top Chalker
I dont think the fight was stopped to Q , the thing is it was a world title fight , both boxers no the score , if you start to take a lot of blows and dont fight back it will be stopped simple as that , iv watched it a few times and Manfredo didnt throw a punch back , not good , and it lost him the fight , he wasnt there to win , listen to his interview after the fight , he missed his wife and kids , and was gratefull to be there , not the words of a man who thinks he was in with a chance of winning a world title fight ............ Big Joe ...class ...............
burnie69 376
Joe threw 34 punches on the bounce some hit some missed without 1 coming back i think the ref saved manfredo from taking some proper punning, the ref did right in my eyes
paddybarr 77
Manfredo got exaclty what he came for (cos he knew he couldnt beat Joe) a controversial decision that will be piped around the world media earning him valuable PR the americans will believe he was robbed by bad reffing and he will get a big money "bums on seats" fight
bill88 6
Manfredo got exaclty what he came for (cos he knew he couldnt beat Joe) a controversial decision that will be piped around the world media earning him valuable PR the americans will believe he was robbed by bad reffing and he will get a big money "bums on seats" fight Spot on mate, bit of controversy will keep him in the limelight. Way i look at it is this, the guy is a very limited fighter who get's a bit of pubilicity from a joke tv show called the contender. He then get's a "fairy tale meets rocky" shot against a true world champ, what doe's he do? i'll tell you what he did,f***all,he spent the whole fight moving backward's.If i'd been given a shot at a world title i'd have tried to make sommat happen, not just stay out of range and throw nuthin, then complain about the decision.Ref was shite, and the fight shouldn't have been stopped at that point, but Manfredo did nuthin, and the outcome was obvious.Joe looked like a cruiserweight and Manfredo like a blown up middleweight, which is what he was.If Joe doe's f**all but slap,he must slap f*****g hard cos he's stopped plenty of opponent's and is still the only man to really hurt Eubank. With all due respect mate you really dont seem to know the boxing game at all...what do you want, khan to go in and fight the best and end his career before its started ? boxing is a short profession,8- 10 years on average...in this time it is important to make as much money as possible without getting hurt, and then hopefully if your career has gone well and you have been well managed, you fight for a title...if your really lucky you win and make a few defences and cash in on it....if your not lucky you have already made a good career financially....boxing is a buiseness, what buiseness is not about money ? now that is a managers point of view A trainers point of view is.....you wouldnt let a kid do a mans job, khan is a very young very fresh very naive and very talented fighter.....he needs to be brought along gradually and learn about the sport without getting badly hurt or losing, but still being pushed far enough to learn....putting him in for a title fight now would be wrong and pointless, theres no rush the kid needs maturing he doesnt need wars. mike tyson was virtually untouched until he had 25 fights!... The fault lies at the promoters door.....generating tv revenue from guys who have done well in the olympics is wrong.....ive said before...back years ago the likes of mcguigan eubank etc etc we had never heard of until they was almost on british title level...nowadays we are watching a kid like khan in his first pro fight live on telly !! his whole career is way ahead of itself....we shouldnt even know who he is yet...and because of this people watching expect more, their expectations are higher, they are wanting to see a young kid in a war...when in reality no young prospect like this would be getting in wars,it would be bad management plain and simple. If brought on correctly and slowly i would be surprised if khan doesnt win a version of a world title, whether he can make defenses of it is another thing and something he is simply too young to be able to judge. It annoys me when people start criticising a promising kid just because he hasnt been knocked down and been in wars...go into any gym anywhere in the world and you will see promising talented young lads being brought along slowly and surely.....bring them to england and we get on their back and attack them, its all wrong. As for calzhage/manfredo....what was the match made for in the first place...if not careful joe could end up an undefeated nobody in world terms...he is without doubt one of the greatest fighters of the modern era on a world scale...BUT...you are only judged as a great fighter by beating other great fighters and joe needs to make more of an effort at getting them....a fighter with as many succesful defences as he has had COULD have had bigger more testing match ups than he has had...but then maybe his unbeaten record is more important to him than beating the best fighters in the world...a great shame in my opinion. Neil 0
Totally agree there, its a shame really as Joe showed he can beat the better fighters when he kicked Jeff Lacys ass - its a shame he wasnt around in the Leonard/Duran/Hearns/Hagler days, that would be worth watching. Im just worried that the years are passing him by and he'll always be remembered for fighting nobodys just the way that Frank "No hard fights please" Warren seems to operate. I just hope his next two fights are against some big name opponents and he comes through unscathed.
