Guest cookiemonsterandmerlin
I find very few newbies to ferretting have a whole lot of luck it takes years of knowlegde time and hard work. You cant learn it from books forums you need time with ferretters to show you signs of foxes where not to ferret land drains concrete slabs the list is endless. But dont let this temper your desire to ferret books will help to guide but until you encounter some the problems in situ you will not have the know how to deal with them. Try tagging along with some local hunters. Good luck Cookie 1 Quote Link to post

Kieren Fox 0
matty been trying to stick to warrens with less holes in maybe between 4 - 10. ferret not down for to long, and put down 1 hole and comes out another hole, then sniffs about the next 1 Quote Link to post

If they are in open ground, could be they are used as quick cover rather than living in .. If they are in deep cover, then it could be inexperienced ferret.. If you have big warrens, it could be one ferret is not enough, but you tend to get the ferret stay down the hole longer in those circumstances... (rabbits run around and dont bolt, staying underground...) Ill suggest again you find someone local to show you the finer points.............or come to Dundee, and you can have a masterclass 2 Quote Link to post
mattydski 560
in these circumstances a decent marking dog helps no end..... Quote Link to post
