I would love to see bears, wolves, lynx etc roaming our countryside but the sad fact is that only Scotland has any chance of supplying enough space and food to hold these predators, and to be honest i think the only predator that could be safely released without danger to people is the lynx, and I could only see them taking the odd red calf. I doubt anybody would dare risk releasing a bear as the first mauling would produce a frenzy, and wolves would also find highland sheep easier than deer. The fact is unless predators were released in carefully manged areas it wouldn't work, unfortunately this Island is over populated and the days of large predators being allowed to roam pur countryside are over...........

In all seriousness, you couldn't make it up could you.......ban hunting, and then start bleating on about how you don't know how to control the population......even Mr Bean would know the blindingly obvious solution!

A lynx has no chance of controlling a red deer herd. They are not much bigger than a tabby. At least they were trying to be objective about it last night - bet the stalker was over the moon when that woman rocked up wearing a white puffa jacket and white bobble hat.

  You ever seen a lynx fella, a bit bigger than a tabby  , but i agree they wont control the red deer herds. The stalker was wearing brand new gear if anyone noticed

Were re-introduced to the Scottish highlands would you support the idea or be against?

The reason I ask is because on Autumm watch last night they were thinking of ways to control the red deer population.

i doubt it would happen but would be good!! you cant upset natures balance tho and if they do introduce them, then laws should already be in place to control them  plus the uk has no experience of living around dangerous animals, over here we have all three species mentioned, and the areas that hold wolves and bears are vast so they rarely come into contact with people, can the same said in the uk :hmm: :hmm:

http://www.thelocal.se/33258/20110417/# imagine this happening back home soon be calls to kill them all!!!

and if someone was to be killed by a bear or wolf, who would be held responsible :hmm:

hunting would be alot more dangerous
